L’And Vineyards: The Design Hotel Amidst Vineyards

Rolling the windows wide open and seeing the road,

and playing the Black Keys (my favourite band of the moment)! The Alentejo landscape has something unreal, olive trees lost in desert lands … white quintas lined with blue or yellow… white clouds looming on an amazing blue sky, in one of the least polluted areas in Europe (let’s pray very hard as it lasts)!

The trip from Lisbon to the L’And Vineyards is fast,

barely fourty five minutes. Stunning architecture of the hotel, maybe inspired by Alvaro Siza Vieira, one of my favorite architects. Straight clean lines, no useless frills (pictures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12). Time to explore and take some pictures of our suite, we reach the surrounding vineyards, the call of nature!

The weather fluctuates between cloudy and light rain and vegetation starts to glow (pictures 6, 9 and 10). You can participate in wine tastings organized by the hotel. When we return, I swim in the outdoor pool (17 degrees) and the heated indoor pool (both on the picture 4). As for my long swims in the icy Atlantic, I spend hours swimming, floating, bubbled (lol). Especially when I have both pools all to myself!

Some of the guests attend the wine tasting,

while the others are preparing for dinner. I should do the same … Because tonight: gourmet dinner at the L’And, the one star Michelin restaurant of the hotel, to discover the cuisine of the talented Chef Miguel Laffan (coming up post). Mademoiselle Le K, it’s time to get dressed!

L’And Vineyards: l’hôtel design au coeur des vignes

Rouler les fenêtres grandes ouvertes, voir la route qui défile,

les Black Keys à fond (mon groupe du moment)! Le paysage en Alentejo a quelque chose d’irréel : des arbres souvent des oliviers, perdus dans de vastes étendues désertiques… quintas blanches mâculées… nuages blancs qui se dessinent sur un incroyable ciel bleu, dans une des régions la moins polluée d’Europe (en priant très fort pour que ça dure)!

Le trajet jusqu’au L’And Vineyards depuis Lisbonne est rapide,

à peine trois quart d’heure. Superbe architecture de l’hôtel que je trouve d’inspiration Alvaro Siza Veira, un de mes architectes préférés. Lignes pures, rectilignes sans fioriture inutile (photos 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 et 12). Le temps de découvrir et prendre quelques photos de notre suite, nous gagnons les vignes avoisinantes, l’appel de la nature!

Bientôt les vendanges!

La météo oscille entre éclaircies et légères averses et la végétation commence à rougeoyer (photos 6, 9 et 10). Il est possible de participer à des dégustations de vin organisé par l’hôtel. Lorsque nous rentrons, je file me baigner alternant piscine extérieure (à 17 degrés) et piscine intérieure chauffée (les deux sur la photo 4). Comme pour mes longues baignades dans l’Atlantique glacé, je reste des heures à nager, flotter, buller (lol). D’autant plus que j’ai les deux piscines pour moi toute seule!

Une partie des hôtes assiste à la dégustation de vins,

tandis que les autres se préparent pour le dîner. Je devrais en faire autant… Car ce soir : dîner gastronomique au restaurant L’And, une étoile au guide Michelin, pour découvrir la cuisine du talentueux chef Miguel Laffan (post à venir,, promis!). Mademoiselle Le K, il est temps d’aller vous changer!

Wellness & Fooding Weekend in Poland (Part 2)

For all those who will party and eat quite a lot tonight, here is an idea of detox weekend’s destination! Few months ago, I was invited in the region of Swietorkrzyskie (Holy Cross) in southern Poland for a wellness and fooding weekend. After the discovery of the Baseny Mineralne, a new spa complex and the Malinowy Zdroj Medical Spa **** , I plunged with delight in the design pool of the Odyssey hotel (pictures 2 & 3) ! What a pleasure to swim while enjoying a panoramic view of the city of Kielce ! It changes the monotony of back and forth swimming ! Mademoiselle, come on, stop pretending just swimming! Ok I confess, I mainly tested the jacuzzi (but it’s also a hard work to tone!). Time to slip into a wide bathrobe for a facial at the spa hotel (pictures 4 & 5). And I fear a little, I’ve never tested SkinCeuticals cosmetics. My therapist has magic fingers and quickly I fall asleep. Wake up, my ultra sensitive skin radiates ! And I’m a kind of picky, always looking for skin imperfection. After the effort, the comfort, I have to go dressing for the dinner at the Space Odyssey Restaurant. The chef Tomasz Pawluska offers a tasty simple lightweight Polish cuisine (pictures 1, 6 & 7). And if like me, you really enjoy the simplicity, you will feel spoiled here ! The food is delicious and the presentation is neat with an efficient discreet service. Time to enjoy food after training, LOL !
