Facing a Beautiful Beach

I’m always very excited to discover a hotel I really like! This is definitely the case with the Strandhotel! First of all, its location: near a nature reserve, facing a long beach that stretches for miles, with paths for walking or cycling. We arrive in Cadzand in the early evening. In the main hall of the Strandhotel, the interior design is soothing. I sink into a large armchair, waiting for check-in to be completed (in photomontage 2: photos 4, 5 and 6).

What a pleasure when I enter the room: a corner suite with a sea view! The interior design is simple and refined, just the way I like it: space, neutral colors, and quality furniture. I feel really calm and happy, like in a cocoon. The large double walk-in shower and bathtub are very comfortable. The bedding is great and it’s hard to get out of bed! I even forgot the very large TV screen. I don’t like TV screens at all. To tell you how good I felt: we had dinner in the suite which I didn’t want to leave (first photomontage 1). But the second evening, we finally had dinner outside..

The pool and wellness area are open until late, so we spent our first two evenings swimming and enjoying the various facilities alone (photomontage 2: photos 1, 2, and 3). Yes, alone! Plus, swimming in dim lighting is very pleasant and relaxing. The other nice surprise of this short stay: the excellent breakfast at Pine House, one of the hotel’s restaurants. Quality ingredients, a wide variety of savory and sweet dishes, all nicely presented in a bright and modern setting (photomontage 3). A real treat, well done!

Face à une superbe plage

J’ai toujours beaucoup d’enthousiasme à découvrir un hôtel qui me plaît! C’est vraiment le cas du Strandhotel! Tout d’abord sa localisation : près d’une réserve naturelle, face à une longue plage du nord qui s’étend sur des kilomètres, avec des sentiers pour se promener ou faire du vélo. Nous arrivons en début de soirée à Cadzand.. Dans le hall principal du Strandhotel, la décoration intérieure apaise. Je m’enfonce dans un large fauteuil, en attendant la fin du check-in (dans le photomontage 2: phots 4, 5 et 6).

Quel plaisir en entrant dans la chambre : une suite d’angle avec vue mer. La décoration est épurée comme j’aime: de l’espace, des couleurs neutres et mobilier de qualité. L’ensemble renvoie à une forme de quiétude. La double douche à l’italienne et la large baignoire sont très confortables. Quant à la literie : impeccable, difficile de quitter le lit! J’en oublie même le très grand écran de télé. Je n’aime pas les écrans de télé, d’ailleurs je n’aime pas la télé. Pour vous dire à quel point, je me suis sentie bien : nous avons dîné dans la suite que je ne voulais plus quitter (premier photomontage 1). Le second soir, nous avons quand même diné dehors.

La piscine et l’espace bien-être ouvrent jusqu’à tard. Aussi, nous passons nos deux débuts de soirées à nager et profiter des différentes installations, seuls (photomontage 2 : photos 1,2 et 3). Oui seuls! Et j’ai particulièrement apprécié de nager sous un éclairage tamisé. C’est vraiment relaxant. L’autre belle surprise de ce court séjour : l’excellent petit déjeuner au Pine House, un des restaurants de l’hôtel. Des ingrédients de qualité, avec une grande variété de plats salés et sucrés bien présentés, dans un cadre clair et moderne. Un vrai régal, bravo!

Weekend in Amsterdam To Celebrate Its 750th Anniversary

Hi everybody!

Today, I’d like to share with you a hectic weekend in Amsterdam, in a new way : with a video format. This October 2025, Amsterdam will celebrate its 750th anniversary. The festivities have already begun and will continue throughout the year.

Without futher do, grab a cup of tea or coffee and play your favorite music while watching the video. All practical information is below the video. You can enlarge the video by clicking on the square in the right corner of the video.

Where to sleep, eat on a rooftop and party: the Volkshotel. If you cross the street, you can also have a drink or eat at The Social Hub. And for a brunch or drink and to visit exhibitions at the NEMO Science Museum.                                                  Where to rent a bike:  Yellow Bike. Cycling is one of the best way to discover less touristy areas. History and arts are everywhere in Amsterdam.                                                                     Must-have: I highly recommend buying the I Amsterdam City Card.  It allows you to use public transport, visit museums and attractions, do a canal cruise and rent bikes.
