Médoc, France: Château d’Arsac, A Mix of Contemporary Art and Wines

After visiting the CAPC in Bordeaux, I am very surprised to discover in one of the older Médoc properties, le Pouce ( The Tthumb, 1965) of César (picture above). Welcome to Château d’Arsac, purchased in 1986 by Philippe Raoux ; this Bordeaux wine merchant is also a contemporary art collector. The story of Château d’Arsac starts in the 12th century, then the property was owned by the brother of the famous French philosopher Montaigne. Today the Arsac estate consists of 112 hectares dont 54 in the Margaux appellation and 50 in the Haut-Médoc appellation. And if you’re interested to see the twenty sculptures of Château d’Arsac, the Bordeaux Tourism Office and the Winery, organize visits to discover the artwoks and the wines. Les Etangs De Corot: The Bucolic Hotel Near Paris

Following my previous post

about the Paul and Joe’s Suite in the hotel Les Etangs de Corots : here the outsides I really enjoyed. A sweet incentive to contemplation and farniente (yes, just doing nothing!). Yes, even the fashion addict in me, needs relaxing breaks (lol!). The iPod plays Zara McFarlane (a London jazzy discovery, in a coming-up post).

Picture 1 : like in the South of de France (and Marcel Pagnol’s books), I feel totally de-stressed and so far away from the Paris cacophony (a bless!). Picture 2 : the room balcony calming view of ponds. Picture 3 : a listed guinguette from the late 19th or the beginning of the 20th century! Like in Renoir ou Carné’s movies with Arletty (a famous French actress and muse). Pictue 4 : the sleek covered deck of Café des Artistes, for a tasteful lunch, chatting with another ardent traveler, Pauline Pawlowski (last picture 5). I gave you this charming adress, please kept it confidential!

Kent, UK: A walk in Sandwich

After the exceptional gardens of Walmer Castel, let’s stroll in the picturesque small streets of  Sandwich. Look at the first picture, don’t you feel like being in the episodes of The Avengers! Lovely! Sandwich is a medieval town of Kent that used to be the most important port of England between the eleventh and thirteenth centuries. The Saxon orign’s name of Sandwich meant sandy place, or the place on the sand. But what about Sandwich the food? Well, circa 1762, John Montagu,  the Earl of Sandwich and a burnt-out gambler, invented the sandwich. The legendary says while he was playing an endless game of cards, he asked for something to eat. The cook prepared him meat and cheese between bread to keep his hands clean. And our sandwich friend was born! Next stop : Whitestable’s seaside… sounds exciting too!
