A Manicure @ So Spa By Sofitel Saint James London

After a day where I ran from one end to the other in the freezing cold London

(planning totally messed), I arrived at 6:30 p.m. at So Spa by Sofitel Saint James London for a manicure. Perfect timing before dinner with a friend. From the entrance, the quiet and the home lighting create a kind of cocoon that contrasts to my today rhythm.

Slowly the stress falls and I am slightly drowsy while the manicure begins. Carita for hands and OPI for nail care and nail polish, but I took one of my favorite varnish, the red London from Mavala. Safer for touch, knowing the very limited duration of my manicures (LOL!).

Soon I was served a nonalcoholic giant cocktail (included in the treatment, usually it’s a Martini) which gives me the impression of being on a distant beach with a perfect temperature … Honestly this huge cocktail gave a another dimension to the manicure done with great care!

A big thanks to my care manicure. When it was finished, I was directed to the lounge upstairs. Where once again I found the ceiling height of the building (a former bank) unbelievable. If the decoration and lighting of the rest room lend themselves wonderfully to extend this feeling of calm (photo 4), they did not count on two thirties clients screaming (yep!) their woes at work! I’m Zen, zen I go in my room.

Une manicure au So Spa du Sofitel Saint James London

Après une journée où j’ai couru (littéralement) d’un bout à l’autre de Londres

par un froid polaire (planning chamboulé de A à Z!), j’arrive à 18h30 au So Spa du Sofitel Saint James London pour une manicure. Perfect timing, avant un dîner avec une amie. Dès l’entrée, le calme, l’éclairage et l’accueil créent un agréable cocon qui contraste avec mon rythme du jour.

Petit à petit le stress retombe et me voilà légèrement somnolente, tandis que la manicure commence. Carita pour les soins des mains et O.P.I pour les soins des ongles et vernis : mais j’ai emmené un de mes vernis préférés, le rouge London de Mavala. Plus prudent pour les retouches, connaissant la durée extrêmement limitée de mes manicures (lol!).

Très vite on m’apporte un délicieux cocktail géant non alcoolisé (inclus dans le soin, en général c’est un Martini) qui me donne l’impression d’être sur une plage lointaine à température rêvée… Honnêtement ce maxi cocktail a donné une autre dimension à la manicure exécutée avec une grande minutie.

Un grand merci à ma manicure qui le soin fini, m’a dirigée vers la salle de repos à l’étage. D’où j’ai à nouveau constaté la hauteur de plafond assez hallucinante du bâtiment, une ancienne banque. Si la décoration et l’éclairage de la salle de repos se prêtaient à merveille pour prolonger cette sensation de calme retrouvé (photo 4), c’était sans compter sur deux clientes, des trentenaires qui hurlaient (ouiii!) leurs déboires du boulot! Zen je suis, zen je file dans ma chambre.

Sofitel Saint James: A Room With A Breakfast @ The Balcon

Just arrived in London St. Pancras station

and 4 tube stops later, I’m on Piccadilly Circus, 2 minutes walk from the Sofitel Saint James located away from the crowd, in a little place that I didn’t know. The hotel is housed in an heritage building: a former imposing bank with incredibly high ceilings!

After a warm welcome at reception desk by a French-English bilingual staff, I discover my room: simple, elegant and spacious, in a range of black, white and brown. The decor is stylish with black and white photographies on the wall. Lovely bathroom with the old faucet and tiled black and white checkered.

What a pity amenities are limited to one soap, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner … all Hermès okay! But for short stays, to lighten my bag I bring the bare minimum like a mini make-up and cleanser, because I usually find everything else in the room. Damned, this time I didn’t take my toothbrush, toothpaste nor body cream (LOL!): thankfully Boots is in Piccadilly Circus!

Otherwise leaving my room with its so cozy vibe and “you’re in London Baby!” exotic view (picture 3) and comfortable king size bed, is a huge challenge my dear (lol)! Photo 4: a regressive wallpaper in the entrance to the room (picture 4).

And for lasting this cozy atmosphere, a breakfast full of vitamins at the beautiful Balcon, the relaxed chic brasserie of the hotel (pictures 6 & 7). Too hard to leave it to go to my meetings! Picture 5: amazing chandelier ceiling of a hotel suite.
