Biarritz, France: The arrival @ The Roxy Pro 2012

For all fans of surfing

that have not been able to get to the 7th Edition of the 2012 Roxy Pro Biarritz and penultimate stop of the ASP Women’s World Surfing Championship 2012. Here in Biarritz – out of competition – everyone is surfing, quite amazing! I reach the Côte des Basques (picture 1) where the trials began. Problem: the lack of waves and the first days sessions postponed.

Tonight I really enjoy the panoramic view

from Les 100 Marches, where Roxy hosted a cocktail. A bit tight in the VIP / Press square (lol!), we sit facing the sea in a cool and cosmopolitan atmosphere, with a good DJ. Back to the Grande Plage (pictures 2 and 3, where the final will be held) by the path along the sea: the scenery is outstanding! We stopped at Le Taïtu for a pizza session. Choose the terrace to avoid the super tacky decor inside! To be continued…

Pour tous les fans de surf

qui n’ont pas pu se rendre à la 7ème édition du Roxy Pro 2012 à Biarritz et avant-dernière étape des Championnats du Monde de Surf Féminin ASP 2012. Assez hallucinant, hors compétition, tout le monde surfe à Biarritz! Direction la Côte des Basques (photo 1) où les épreuves ont commencé. Problème : le manque de vagues des premiers jours et sessions reportées.

Ce soir, je profite de la vue XXXL

depuis Les 100 Marches, où Roxy a organisé un apéro. Un peu à l’étroit dans le carré V.I.P/presse (lol!), on file s’assoir face à la mer. Ambiance cool et cosmopolite, avec un bon DJ. Retour vers la Grande Plage (photos 2 et 3, où se tiendra la finale), par le chemin qui longe la mer : le paysage est simplement sublime! On a atterrit chez Le Taïtu pour une pizza session. On choisit la terrasse pour éviter la déco mega kitch de l’intérieur! La suite c’est par ici…

Hotel Lancaster celebrates Helmut Newton

When I was a kid, I discovered photography by a small exhibition in Paris, with pictures of Helmut Newton : it was a shock that changed my life! But this is another story… What the link between the Hôtel Lancaster, the famous Parisian palace hosted the mythical Marlene Dietrich and the bigger than life Helmut Newton? In 1976, in the Marlene Dietrich suite of the Lancaster, the fashion photographer shot for Hermès, the « Saddle » series. What a small world!

For the first French retrospective of the photographer in Grand Palais, from March 24th till June 17th, 2012, the small palace proposes an exclusive offer, for the duration of the exhibition, including:

– accommodation in one of the newly renovated rooms or suites, breakfast at La Table du Lancaster, two tickets for the exhibition “Helmut Newton” at the Grand Palais (every day except Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.), the booklet of the exhibition and late check out at 15:00 to availability. Price from 480 € per night in Dreamer’s double room. Wifi access is available and the hotel offers its customers a courtesy car from 7:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., 7 days / 7.
