East Sussex, UK: A Walk In The Old City Of Hastings

A post for all those looking a different destination for a relaxing weekend : here is Hastings in East Sussex, England. Forget immediatly your party animal temper to switch to “a deep seaside breath” only. I recommend the hyperactive, a homeopathic dose of two days, no more. Enjoy the pictures in my tour of the old town of Hastings. Picture 1: view down to the fishing area, with the amazing Net shops (picture 2), black wooden huts erected in height, where fishermen traditionally ranked their nets and fishing equipment. Absolutely new for me! Near the net shops, I also discover @ the Jerwood Gallery, some British painters of the 20th century and 21st (post to come). Pictures 3 & 4: typical narrow street of the old Hastings leads to an English gardens! Then I reach some shopping streets, with many small antique shops, full of miscellaneous objects completely surreal, like in “The Advengers” (last picture).

East Sussex, UK: The Post Office Tea Rooms in St Leonards on Sea

If you need “action”, such creative leisure for the use of regressive fashion-somthing in you (knitting to de-stress!). Or at the opposite, if you dream of an “after work the fun” (fed up to act like a shopping addict in the old Hastings). Here is a charming tea room run by a couple of former graphic designers: the Post Office Tea Rooms, in five to ten minutes from Hastings House. It’s true, I really enjoy the knit evening concept (although I had already spoken in my posts on Toronto and Paris years ago). Anyway I like the concept, the concept only, okay! Because in weekend, I luv doing nothing (lol!): a few cups of tea, with two to three magazines to look at softly. And here, @ the Post Office Tea Rooms, with from time to time, a glance at the sea. Relax, relax. And for food lovers, the cakes are homemade!

East Sussex, UK: Hastings House, A Room In A Cosy Refine Bed & Breakfast In Hastings

What a great surprise! Here is a stylish Bed and Breakfast of eight rooms, run by a couple of Australians, much more better than some 4 star hotels!  A personalized outstanding hospitality. Upon check-in, Loy Seng, the owner welcomes you by offering you a drink of what you want. Here the hosts are detail oriented. And the new equipment is very well maintained. On the top floor, I’m discovering my room. The setting worthy of a good design hotel! An iPod station, the original bedside lamp, but mostly the large minimalist bathroom! I love it! Gray tiles, maxi bathtub, design faucets, extra clean toilet, mirror sets, beautiful finishes and bright light (pictures 2 & 3). Less is more! Seng confirms me they have used a decorator. Not to mention the perfect bedding and the excellent breakfast, cooked by Elizabeth, his wife. The Hastings House is a bit eccentric to the tourist area of Hastings : 20 minutes of an invigorating walk along the seafront to get there. The Beb & Breakfast is also 10 minutes from St Leonards: stop at the Post Office Tea Rooms, for an English tea & scones break.
