I Really Simplified My Beauty Routine

For two years: back to “natural” hair, without intensive chemical treatment (straightening etc… ). It seems that I’ve never had such beautiful hair (soft curls). No secret, I moderately take care of  them (- no need to smother them -) with the most “natural” products possible.

For two months, I’ve make my own oil bath and after / before shampoo (DIY). For my oil baths that I also apply to seal hydration (every 2-3 days depending on the needs of my super dry hair), the base is a mixture of organic coconut and olive oils (photo 1 above). To which I can add many other organic oils (avocado, argan, castor … depending on the specific needs of my hair).

The two small bottles on the pictures (barely bigger than my index finger) lasted almost two months. I still have some olive oil. I’m not the kind frugal using my products. And sometimes I use one of these oils alone or mixed with a moisturizer on face and body! Super efficient and light convenient for traveling.

To Go To The Sea

I apply a mixture of natural shea butter with my two organic coconut and olive oils: mixing well and refrigerate the product (picture 4 above). My curls have never been as flexible and well defined! I’ve even had compliments.

And the evening, I rinse or washed them with the excellent Aveda Be Curly Co-wash: superb texture and nice lemon smell. Then I don’t use any conditionner. Sometimes, I just tie my hair without adding any product. If I find them not soft enough, I apply a little bit of oil (I never use coconut oil alone, always associated with another oil).

And if I want to discipline baby hair around the face (almost impossible mission!), I add the Aveda Brilliant water-based gel. My hair stand 1 to 2 hours and the natural goes back (lol)! Next up, I’d like to try natural henna. If you have some tips, please feel free to leave me a comment or sent me an email!

My Skiing Skin Care

Morning & Night

I oversimplified my beauty routine for skiing (and the city). I wasn’t in a beautysta mood and wanted to travel light too. For several months, I am not siciplined for food, sports and beauty.

And it is regularity that makes difference! Conclusion fewer products and less beauty tests (and less discoveries too), but a more selective vanity box. Don’t worry I feel that with the rise of spring, my beautista will wake up soon …

Let’s start with the make-up removal and cleansing. 1. The Karité Brume Confort of L’Occitane (L’Occitane Comfort Shea Mist) without alchool. I use it all times and especially when I feel my skin skirmish. My first step in the morning to moisturize my skin dried by the heating.

2. The Uriage Thermal Micellar Water is a very good travel product that softly cleans and removes very well. When I am at home, I use it alternates with oils and milks (I have a very sensitive skin).

3. My favorite: Weleda Refining Toner. This natural cosmetic with witch hazel and rose hip soothes and invigorates the skin. At first as I was afraid of a reaction to the essential oils, I only applied it at night. But I have made no reaction. Excellent product that leaves the skin smooth.

Serums & Cream

My other favorite is Nuxe Nuxellence – Youth & Radiance Revealing Fluid (2) : my “looks good” face cream with Passiflora flower. When I don’t use it, my complexion is duller. I love the cream texture and very discret perfume. When traveling, I use it morning and night.

I’ve also taken to the ski the Evocure Anti Age EGF Serum and Evocure Eye Care Serum(1) : with “composition of advanced active principles encapsulated in hyaluronic acid allows it to penetrate deeply in the skin to stimulate natural synthesis of collagen and cell repair” (Evocure).

Forgetting The Beautiful Curls

I have frizzy hair (2). The dry air of mountains can be an ally. But with the helmet (to ski), beanie and heating, I have to attach my hair all the time. And use more super moisturizing care, because they are drier and more brittle than in town.

I complete my hydration with the Nectar d’Huiles Végétales HydraR’Force of Farida b (1).  I alternate with two other creams of the HydraR’Force range (4) : the Crème Fluide Hydratante de Jour (not effective on my hair) and excellent Baume Végétal Nourrissant. I heat its grainy texture in the hands before applying it to the hair.

Photo 3 in my mini bag for skiing: A. I don’t go without applying my star product, the sunblock Uriage Bariésun Stick SPF50+. Hygienic and easy to apply. B. My sunglasses. C. A stick to nourish lips and kleenex. D. My ski pass! E. A mini notebook and pen: who knows if I have a great idea while skiing? (LOL)! And F. A hypster beanie, not so useful under the helmet!

Fragrances & Nail Polish

I love fragrances! Fidele to Estée Lauder: I really fell for her Modern Muse Le Rouge (1), based on roses and fruits. I find it both light, fresh, heady, modern and really feminine.

2. Hermès Le Jardin de Monsieur Li : this shower gel has a subtle classy fragrance and leaves the skin very soft! 3. The pleasure of bathing in an outdoor swimming pool in a snowy setting at Le Tremplin Méribel. 4. Some red red: the Hema Long Lasting Rouge.

What are your beauty products for ski holidays? I am very curious, it’s always a pleasure to discover new products, so feel free to leave a comment or sent me an email.

Uriage: Thermal Water, Cleansing Lotion & Skincare

The Uriage Thermal Water and Roséliane Cleansing Lotion

The essential step before any treatment is a good makeup removal and cleaning. It is really important to do it properly. For several months I use the Roséliane Cleasing Lotion of Uriage. Ultra soft texture, a real treat!

This fresh solution, both creamy and aqueous formulated for very sensitive skin, suits me perfectly. My skin is particularly reactive during the winter. I apply it with fingertips (previously washed) by small circles on the face and neck. Its smell is pleasant and unobtrusive.

Then I remove everything with a drained cotton (after having it wet in hot water). As a tonic, I complete this first step with the Thermal Water spray full in minerals and trace elements that hydrate and really soothes my skin.

Sometimes when I need an intense hydration, I leave the AcquaPRECIS Moisturizing Express Mask of Uriage all night,. The texture is a bit sticky, but next morning the features are smoothed and the skin is plumped ….

The Isofill Regiment

I have a combination skin which is drier than oily in winter. And during the colder months, I prefer adding to serum a rich anti-aging cream. I need to feel that my skin is really fed. So I tested the anti-wrinkle Isofill regiment of Uriage for more than two months.

First I applied the Isofill Sérum, Wrinkle Focus Intensive Serum (picture 1): very fluid texture. I think it is a great hydration boost when it’s used with the Isofill Rich Cream with Shea butter (Isofill Crème Riche, picture 2). This duo offers an incredible comfort to the skin and a beautiful shine, but no visible effect on my wrinkles.

My favorite product is the Isofill Eye Contour Care: excellent (Isofill Contour des Yeux, picture 3) to moisturize without irritating the fragile area around the eyes. I put very little and it melts into the skin and lasts long. I also love the fresh scent (same as the Roséliane Cleansing Lotion’s one).

Isofill is a very good line to deeply nourish the skin and believe me I am very demanding when it comes to choose my cosmetics. As the textures are very fluid and quickly absorbed through the skin, maybe I add this regiment to my beauty routines for combination skin, this summer too … Do feel free to give me your opinion.
