New Concept & Hotel

While our driver takes a road along Lake Annecy (stunning panorama), the path seems long, but I didn’t sleep the night before. The Pashmina is the new 5 star luxury Small Hotels of the World, Val Thorens.

It’s always very exciting to be invited to the opening of a new hotel, new concept … Upon entering the main hall, very bright with a modern and friendly fireplace: the atmosphere is relaxed with welcoming smiles.

On the above photo montage: at the same floor, the ski room and Ski Shop by Goitschel, where you can order customized ski shoes or slippers. The shop Le Colporteur has a nice selection of teas. No time to stay more, I barely have time to discover my room before lunch.

Cosi Before & Après Ski Spot

A place to chill and have a drink with friends (pictured above) … I wish I wedge myself in one of the large deep chairs with a good book, lulled by the gentle ambient light … but I have thousand activities that await me!

What a pity there is too much wind on the terrace with direct views of the slopes to bask in the sun (first photo of the post and photo below to view)! It will be for the Folie Douce (LOL)!

The Spa

We relax at the spa. The jacuzzi (1), massage room (2, L’Occitane products used), sauna (3) and swimming pool (4) have panoramic views of the slopes and the mountain. Awesome!

Thessaloniki, Greece: Restaurants and Nightlife

Restaurants

B. Restaurant

If you’re a fan of Mediterranean cuisine, you will be delighted in Thessaloniki! Here are some restaurants I’ve tested and much loved during my (too) short stay. Let’s start with B. the restaurant of the Byzantine Museum that I have unfortunately not visited for lack of time.

As soon as I came, I really liked the decoration of the courtyard and the cosy atmosphere (above and below pictures). The dishes prepared by award-winning chef Sotiris Evangelou change with the seasons. Excellent Mediterranean cuisine enhanced by French and Italian elements: tasteful, lightweight and gourmet.

Daios Bar-Restaurant

Thessaloniki -Greece-Hotel-Daios-Luxury-Living-Gastronomic-Restaurant-1-Photo ©Mademoiselle Le K

Located in Nikis Avenue, this restaurant of the Daios hotel offers a very pleasant view to the blue Mediterranean sea. Close to the famous Proxenou Koromila street (shopping area), the place is chic and casual.

The beautifully presented dishes are delicious (below pictures), inspired by a combination of modern Greek cuisine and Mediterranean cuisine. Excellent! I took the opportunity to visit one of the suites on the top floor with stunning sea views (yes the sea, always the sea!).

Navona Restaurant

Interesting decor, I liked the circular bar and wall panels (above and below pictures). I had a very good dinner, we laughed a lot! The Navona is one of the Makedonia Palace restaurants, located on the waterfront.

Italian cuisine and friendliness: in my plate, a succulent grilled chicken with a very good pizza. Go there with friends or family. Unpretentious atmosphere.

Ouzou Melathron

Thessaloniki-Greece-Ouzou Melathron-Traditional-Food-Restaurant-1-Photo ©Mademoiselle Le K

The Ouzou Melathron is a classic in Thessaloniki, nestled in a quiet pedestrian street with empty bird cages hanging in the air. To discover traditional Greek cuisine in a Greek ambiance! The night I was there, Cretan customers danced the Sirtaki.

On the principle of meze, I’ve tasted many different dishes all very good (and a little greasy). Meatballs, salads with feta cheese and fresh vegetables, potatoes baked with lemon and olive oil … A treat!

Thessalonique by night

Thessaloniki-Greece-Bars-Nightlife-1-Photo ©Mademoiselle Le K

Thessaloniki is a student city, full of bars and terraces where to go out at night. The best is yet to have a walk and choose a bar according to the inspiration of the moment. Go with the flow and enjoy!

Three Restaurants in Zagreb: dobar tek, bon appetit!

Zagreb Restaurants_Agava_4_Photo Mademoiselle Le K_copyright 2013

Dobar tek, bon appetit!

Remember I stayed two nights and a day, barely enough time to discover these three restaurants in Zagreb. If you have any suggestions, some WOW spots, just drop me an email, or leave me a comment here or in my Twitter  (yes I am now, LOL!)! Thanks!

1. Agava

Zagreb Restaurants_Agava_3_Photo Mademoiselle Le K_copyright 2013Zagreb Restaurants_Agava_1_Photo Mademoiselle Le K_copyright 2013

Great location in picturesque pedestrian street: the trendy Tkalčića street! The restaurant terrace has a view of the design accessories shop Modus, where I liked canvas bags made in Croatia. It is also just minutes from (my favourite) Bar Cica. For that matter I chose to taste Croatian dishes ; ) So as a starter, the Strukli (picture 2), with cottage cheese and dough. Typical dish of Zagreb. Followed by a specialty of Dalmatia (picture 1) with ink gnocchi and fish steak. And picture 3: excellent bread that reminded me of the Greek pita. Tkalčića 39, 10000, Zagreb. Tel +385 1 4829 826.

2. Le Bistro Esplanade

Zagreb Restaurants_Le Bistro Esplanade_1_Photo Mademoiselle Le K_copyright 2013

A charming art deco place where I dined at my arrival (picture 4). On the map, dishes inspired by a mixture of French and Croatian I found it very light and very tasty cuisines. I chose a watercress soup as input (picture 5) and monkfish fillet with vegetables. I do not like complicated sauces or heavy dishes. I appreciate the simplicity and recognizing the taste of each food. Picture 6: great appetizer. More information about Le Bistro Esplanade, click HERE.

3. Amphora

Zagreb Restaurants-Amfora-2-Photo Mademoiselle Le K-copyright 2013

I did not eat here, but when I asked Dora, my guide, where she likes to go for a lunch, she replied without hesitation: Amfora (picture 7). And I immediately understood why: the authenticity of the location, close to the market of Britanski Square. The iconic market in Zagreb, with its red striped umbrellas (pictures 8 & 9). On the daily menu: fresh fish coming directly from the fish market (the next door, lol). Dolac 2, 10000 Zagreb. Tel +385 (0)1 481 6455, +385 (0)98 480512.
