Brussels, Belgium: Dinner at Chez Montaigne

Foodies, you’ll enjoy this restaurant!

I recently discovered with my dear mum, the excellent restaurant Chez Montaigne, Place Brugmann 27.

My family and friends say I’m picky about food, but I don’t think so. I prefer the quality of products than some extravagant associations and sauces that kill the essence of the taste of each ingredient …

I like to be a bit surprised, but not too much! In other words, it’s quite challenging for the chef (LOL)! We sit inside because it’s raining on the terrace (pictures 1 & 5).

The decor is white and minimalist, a painting by Jean-Luc Moerman roughly recalls the French philosopher Montaigne. The light softens gradually as the evening progresses. We arrived early and will leave among the last (a good sign).

Great first meals

My mother chooses a salad of beets sliced very thin with chew, a half fig and hazelnut. Really delicious (picture above)!

As always, I don’t like to experiment and I choose a more conventional dish with thin avocado slices, parsley and lobster, perfectly seasoned (picture 2). Lovely presentation: many colors in the plate! And impeccable service both professional and friendly!

Then we order fish

served with lentils, asparagus and tomatoes. The cooking is perfect and  the dish is simple and tasty as I like. The large plates are not roborative.

After a long hesitation, we share a delicious homemade ice cream with vanilla (picture below).

Fashion and Beauty in Bali, Indonesia

Summer never ends in the island of the gods.

A wet summer, moist heat  punctuated by rain: it’s hot, very hot! Lazily lounging in the pool. Here is my selection for those who like to travel with few things!

Picture 1 : An H&M black swimsuit top on a Balinese sarong. A sun protection really easy to apply, Invisible Hydrating Mist Vichy of Capital Soleil SPF 50. Lovely scent, finally a sunscreen with a texture that doesn’t stick!

Fan of light fragrances,

I never go anywhere without one or more perfumes! Pictured above: L’occitane au Brésil, Vitória-Régia (: « the star of waters » is a giant flower from Amazonia). It’s fresh and bloomed like a summer haze : )

Other good surprises: the Bodifying Shampoo – Bain Densité of Kérastase Densifique (on the lay out above : on brown sarong and near the H& M bikini with Panther prints). Great care for my super dry hair!

I can’t swim or style my hair without the Masque Spray Multi-Soin Actiliss of Activilong (French ethnic brand). I apply this mask without rinsing. Excellent versatile product.

Addictive Bulgari Omnia Indian Garnet!

By far my favorite scent for months! Euphoric, magical and orange! Original and very sensual bottle (pictured above)! As you may have already read, I loved to madness , Fragrance For Women.

Bulgari Omnia Indian Garnet is happy gourmand fragrance with notes of mandarin, saffron, Indian tuberose, osmanthus and amber. A journey to happiness! Picture above: H&M swimsuit striped on a Balinese sarong.

To soothe, moisturize and nourish the skin of the body,

the Lait Fondant Réparateur Thé vert (Melt-in Body Lotion – Green Tea) of Roger & Gallet: discret smell and velvety texture that quickly melts on the skin. Very lovely in a tropical climate, where just out of the shower, you sweat again! Lol!

Pictured above, a copper vat for the foot bath before a traditional Balinese massage in one of the rooms of the stunning Sungai Gold villa. Note that the Balinese massage is less vigorous than the Thai massage ; )

Photos below: decorating Balinese religious holidays (on wooden board). And the excellent sun protection not very glam for children that I use when I play sports (surfing, swimming …): La Roche Posay Anthelios Dermo-pediatrics 50+.

Lisbon and surroundings: A Beach in Guincho

Guincho-2-Photo Mademoiselle Le K-copyright 2014

Swimming in Guincho at 7-8 p.m.

After a long break at Santini in Caiscas – for the best ice cream in the world ; ) – we stop at one of the small beaches along the coast of Guincho towards Sintra (post to come), for a early evening swim!

The air is crisp and a bit freezy: few people on the beach, less in the icy water and powerful waves. Bad habit, I got used to go to superb desert pristine sandy beaches for miles in Alentejo. That’s why, I avoid the lovely beaches of Guincho crowded with people during the hottest hours.

To go to Guincho from Lisbon, prefer the Marginal road along the ocean than the highway.
