My Beauty Routine For The Tropics

The Beautiful Bottle

To feel beautiful. I love to spray this aerial subtle water of perfume. The Aqua Allegoria Flora Rosa by Guerlain is fresh as a flowery delicate haze. A cheerful elegant note of lightness that remind me the picture of a Japanese cherry tree. I recommend this scent if you are allergic to the now trend of the too sweet fragrances.

Daily Skin Care Regimen

The Cocoon Trio

Many plants and Ayurveda in the Aveda products for my dehydrated sensitive skin that overheats in the heat! On the picture: 1, my favorite, the Botanical Kinetics Toning Mist which moisturizes, refreshes, soothes and matifies my mixed skin (shining in humid warm climate), thanks to white oak, witch hazel and peppermint. Very pleasant to spray, I use it at any time (when I’m not in the sun).

2, the Tulasāra Firm Concentrate serum whose Tulasāra name means “moving towards balance” in Sanskri, is composed of 97% natural products (ayurvedic plants). 3, I use the Botanical Kinetics Intense Hydrating Soft Creme both as a day creme and a night creme. Its creamy fine texture is very pleasant to apply and moisturizes my skin well.

4, I like to have impeccable feet and the white varnish brings an improbable touch of chic.

Protection and Repair

After-Sun Skin Care Routine

I try to avoid our best frenemy (the sun), but I love swimming and moving on the beach too much … So I protect my skin (face and body) with my inseparable Anthélios XL indice 50+ by La Roche Posay (2). I’ve noticed over the years, the texture of sunscreens has significantly improved. Lighter and less tacky.

Evening routine = repair, with the Excellence Code by Yon-Ka (overall anti-aging composed of 92% natural products).  After cleansing, I put it on face and décolleté for an hour (or sometimes less). Then I remove the excess, before applying my serum and my cream.

For hydration of the body, I use the after-sun creme, Posthélios by La Roche Posay with Aloe Vera that I mix with a little organic olive oil (moisturizing and nourishing).

Lavage en douceur

The Softness Trio

I must be a Martian (lol). I find the salt of the ocean and the wind have a postive effect on my skin … Hence the need to clean my face with organic olive oil and my body with non-stripping mild products.

1, the discovery, my other favorite: the Thai Chamanard Glycerin Soap by Banyan Tree (1) with coconut oil, olive oil, vitamin E and Aloe Vera leaf. This soap is so sweet that I also use it to wash my face! 4. The very nice toiletry kits offered by the Banyan Tree.

2. Other very soft body product: Huile de douche Hydratante & Tonifiante by Bio Beauté by Nuxe (99.3% natural ingredients) with the invigorating scent of the Cedrat of Corsica! A pleasure to apply for a silky soft skin. 3. I remain faithful to the Vichy products especially in summer, although I am not a big fan of the texture and scent of the Douche Spa Gel-Huile (gel-oil shower).

Girly

Blue, White and Glitters

Kiko nail polish: a white one for the feet (4), blue ones for the hands (2) with L’Oréal and Essie glitters offered by my mother to illuminate my manicure!

On the other hand the application of the white nail polish (on natural nails), it’s an Odyssey! Several thin layers to have a white white finish – drying hours, while trying to avoid a plaster effect!

My dry hair routine: four oils tested

Time to test some handpicked products over several months,

here is my dry hair routine: four oils tested. As most of you has already known, I love testing new oils to soften and nourish my really dry hair. Mostly 100% natural oils. Leaving mineral oils, additive… even if I sometimes use some, if I can avoid them, I avoid them. So I found two fantastic oils, which I became totally addicted : Regenerating Plant With Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil of Christophe Robin (picture 1) and Huile Solaire Merveilleuse Bio Evoa.

The first oil is a creation of the famous Parisian colorist, Christophe Robin. He selected “several 100% plant oils that complement one another, resulting in a deep and lasting rejuvenation.” An impressive list of Eco Cert certified ingredients: Prickly pear seed oil (antioxidant and moisturizing), rice bran oil (antioxidant and protective), sweet almond oil (nourishing and softening) and Inula flower (from the coast of Brittany) “which protects and revives the pigments in natural or colored hair.” Paraben, silicone, SLS, colorant free. With its super light texture (quite liquid) and delicious subtle fragrance, this oil is a must we take pleasure to apply and smell. I apply it every two days, strand by strand, no need to put a lot. The hair becomes really silky. As soon as I washed and rinsed my hair, I put a little oil throughout hair before untangle and tie in a bun to let it dry. The next day the result is stunning.

Indeed just as visible and palpable with Huile Solaire Merveilleuse Bio Evoa I discovered last summer during the Roxy Pro in Biarritz. Although this dry oil (quite thick) is “more rustic” than Christophe Robin’s oil. Its rich texture is not unpleasant and I like its vanilla scent.  This 100% organic oil is composed of organic safflower oil (moisturizes, nourishes), essential oil Pachouli (regenerative), Vanilla (fragrance), organic Apricot kernel oil (nourishing, moisturizing). Paraben-free and without PEG and nanoparticles, it respects the coral and the ocean. I use this oil for oil bath to repair or as a relaxing after shampoo once or twice a week. After the shampoo, I only rinse the hair that remains shiny and incredibly soft and supple for several days. I recommend you to test it this summer. My advice: I always apply any oils on slightly damp hair.

I also tested Rosazucena, Rosa Mosqueta Pure Oil from Panatagonia:

“Argentina, the 42nd parallel, the Pre-Cordillera of the Andes” … The traveler in me could not ask for more! Go around the world with my various tests of products (LOL). This rare oil obtained by cold-pressing, repairs the skin (acne marks, stretch marks, scars …). I always start from the principle that what is good for the skin, is good for the hair. And I tested this oil very focused on my mane. First point, as I have a lot of hair, I had to use it quite a lot each time. The pot containing only 20 ml, I could not do more than 2-3 oil baths. To stretch the texture, I had to wet my hair more than usual. The combination of oil and wet hair is not very successful at the moment: the stickiness of hair is  not very sexy. Against by the aftermath of the oil bath, the locks are superb, smooth and relaxed. Do not use this oil to style hair, but only as a treatment to nourish and sheathe the structure of the hair (which seems inflated, as boosted after the oil bath). What a pity that I could not make it last another month test!

On the other hand, I had a huge disappointment with Essence Absolue, Nourishing Protective Oil of Shu Emura, based on camellia oil. I can not read the oil’s ingredients on the package. Course I understood there was camellia oil, but what else? Never mind, I was quite excited to test the famous Shu Emura oil. We are all conditioned by the “supposed to be” great selection products of women’s magazines! No comment! Well I found this oil NOTHING especially: the smell (neither good nor bad, nor simply present) and the texture (yes it is an oil and that’s it!). After 2-3 uses (where I used a lot of product), my hair was even drier and more brittle than usual. In short, this is a VERY DISAPPOINTING oil and NOT AT ALL  FOR my very dry hair!

Bulgari: Mon Jasmin Noir L’Eau Exquise, Fragrance For Women

MlleLe K Mon Jasmin Noir L'Eau Exquise 2A

A bit heady without being voluble

Right now I have cravings for fresh, green gardens, light air smells of citrus (referring to my very recent yuzu period, grapefruit from Japan) and white flowers. Light, sunlight filtered through canisses. A happy wake a bit heady without being voluble. Elegant as the eau de parfum Mon Jasmin Noir L’Eau Exquise : a discovery, my first Bulgari perfume.

I really like the curves of bottle, pleasant to touch and look at. The lightly green color of L’Eau Exquise reminds me freshly cut grass. From the first pschit, I had a crush on with acid accents (pink grapefruit) and its top notes of jasmine and white tea, enhanced with the white musk. Instantly I was sent in the imaginary garden I described above. Addictive water, extremely refined and sensual that makes me a good mood. Carefree, charming and exquisite.
