Four Seasons at Sayan, Ubud: Amazing Luxury Spa

For my first visit to Ubud and its surroundings,

I stopped by the luxurious Villas Spa of Four Seasons Bali at Sayan to discover the famous Muladhara treatment, especially recommended for travelers and those who have back problems.

The resort is huge. At the entrance, I cross a bridge leading to a large pool with water lilies overlooking a jungle crossed by a river (picture 6). The view is stunning!

Very quickly a kart drops me to the spa (picture 1). Down the stairs, I saw the wooden villa with a traditional roof in the middle of a pond covered with water lilies and lined by lush nature, where my treatment will take place (picture below)!

A beautiful villa for my spa!

After a ginger-lemon tea, I take a shower to get ready to the treatment. The sliding doors of the villa open onto a lush natural environment. It is xtremely relaxing!

Before starting the 2 hour Muladhara treatment, my therapist, Widiani shows me the different products and accessories that will be used (pictures below).

Pink Himalayan salt scrub for energizing and detoxifying foot, benzoin resin (Far Eastern tree) and incense burning.

The “Muladhara / Earth” Oil massage composed of argan, vetiver, ginger and jatamansi oils. Poultices. Quartz crystals (with a heart shape, photo 4). The singing bowl and Pengasapan utensil.

Tibetan techniques for a treatment designed in London

Once my feet washed, I sit with my bathrobe on this strange stool which escapes smoke benzoin resin and incense to cleanse and purify the Muladhara chakr : the “chakra of the essence of being located at the base of the spine (picture below).

This chakra governs instincts, mental balance and sensuality. Balance the Muladhara, calm the mind and body.”  While the therapist vigorously  massages my neck and shoulders, I look at the garden.

The following is more “conventional” with the kunye massage, a  Tibetan massage style with pats, pressures more or less strong and a technique of kneading the body.

Taps are made along the meridians once to get the negative vibes out and a second time to restore confidence and tranquility.”

Then Widiani puts on my body hot small quartz crystal stones. She also applies and a warm poultice of Himalayan salt. And I felt asleep to the sound of singing bowl (vibrations) that stimulates the Muladhara chakra.

When I wake up, the massage is finished.

I feel deeply rested, and filled with an Olympian calm. The whole body is relaxed, completely relaxed! I feel refocused, as after a heavy session of Tai Chi. Susksma Widiani!

Through beautiful gardens, I slowly head to the lounge of the Four Seasons Bali at Sayan. Enjoying the amber light of late afternoon, I sit on one of the armchair facing the lush jungle. Thinking of nothing (photo below).

YES, you have to try this amazing treatment! I recommend the Muladhara treatment for the thoroughness and professionalism of the therapist who treats each part of the body in depth and for the combination of complementary techniques and of course for the unique setting! One of my best treatments!

Vila Vita Parc, Portugal: Stunning Gardens & Beaches

A blessing to wake up with a such a beautifuf sun

and blue sky! We arrived the night before in a light rain at the Vila Vita Parc, fearing for the weather of this long weekend.

Fantastic brightness! What a great feeling! On my way to the Atlântico restaurant, for breakfast, I discover a multitude of trees, plants and flowers. As a symphony of colors where green predominates and nature is sublimated.

The art of farniente (doing nothing and enjoy), we immediately found this elevated hut as our “place” to chill out, close to the small hotel beach (photos below).

Around noon long visit of the stunning gardens,

maintained by more than fifty gardeners. The sun is at its zenith and I am happy to be in the shade in the kart! Strong light reveals the different greens of vegetation.

We stop first at a small wrought iron gate to reach the second public beach near the resort. One of the best spots to watch the sunset! And check out here the first beach of the resort.

We head to one of five luxurious villas

with buttler: photo above the roof of one of the vilas with a traditional fireplace of the Algarve.

Then we stop at Aladin Bar: my favorite ocean view terrace, inspired by Moorish and Arabic design. This is the place to enjoy a fruit cocktail in the evening (open from 6:30 p.m. till 1:30 a.m.)!

For the lazy ones, let the blazing sun and sunburns to athletes, LOL! And try these amazing Pool Bar‘s swing beds (last photo)! Trust the Queen of the “hammocking” (the art of hammock) ; )

Esplanade Zagreb: A Room

Esplanade Zagreb-Room-1-Photo Mademoiselle Le K_copyright 2013

I arrived in the evening at the Esplanade Zagreb,

the cuisine of Le Bistro Esplanade closed soon. Check-in completed at the reception desk, I was kindly directed to the restaurant. After dinner, I wanted to do few snapshots of the hotel and I spent lots of time… of course … Still not seen my room. Along the way I discovered a kind of debutante ball, among the thousand decorative objects that arouse my curiosity. Then completely knockout (more than 24 hours without sleeping), I finally go to my room. Opening the door, I have the feeling that I know the place which is very nice. Even the Coca Zero “Frend” (mate) greets me! The room is spacious and cozy, with a comfortable seating area and long windows.

But the real good surprise: the bathroom

designed as an open space, large, clean and functional with a glam touch of Art Deco. A pleasure to use: no door or wall with the room. Without vampirizing space, such as when the tub is placed opposite the bed: I hate and it can be found in a plethora of design hotels! Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fane of design and crazy architecture.

But in some upscale hotels that were palaces in the past, I especially like their ability to anticipate the notion of comfort for each guest. In my case, I need a large number of electrical outlets in the room for my several chargers (cameras, mobile and laptop). I also need indirect lighting that is not too strong (neither too dark) and a perfect bedding. And do I have to mention free efficient wifi in all areas of the hotel? The Esplanade Zagreb has perfectly fulfilled all these criteria.
