Dobar tek, bon appetit!

Remember I stayed two nights and a day, barely enough time to discover these three restaurants in Zagreb. If you have any suggestions, some WOW spots, just drop me an email, or leave me a comment here or in my Twitter  (yes I am now, LOL!)! Thanks!

1. Agava

Great location in picturesque pedestrian street: the trendy Tkalčića street! The restaurant terrace has a view of the design accessories shop Modus, where I liked canvas bags made in Croatia. It is also just minutes from (my favourite) Bar Cica. For that matter I chose to taste Croatian dishes ; ) So as a starter, the Strukli (picture 2), with cottage cheese and dough. Typical dish of Zagreb. Followed by a specialty of Dalmatia (picture 1) with ink gnocchi and fish steak. And picture 3: excellent bread that reminded me of the Greek pita. Tkalčića 39, 10000, Zagreb. Tel +385 1 4829 826.

2. Le Bistro Esplanade

A charming art deco place where I dined at my arrival (picture 4). On the map, dishes inspired by a mixture of French and Croatian I found it very light and very tasty cuisines. I chose a watercress soup as input (picture 5) and monkfish fillet with vegetables. I do not like complicated sauces or heavy dishes. I appreciate the simplicity and recognizing the taste of each food. Picture 6: great appetizer. More information about Le Bistro Esplanade, click HERE.

3. Amphora

I did not eat here, but when I asked Dora, my guide, where she likes to go for a lunch, she replied without hesitation: Amfora (picture 7). And I immediately understood why: the authenticity of the location, close to the market of Britanski Square. The iconic market in Zagreb, with its red striped umbrellas (pictures 8 & 9). On the daily menu: fresh fish coming directly from the fish market (the next door, lol). Dolac 2, 10000 Zagreb. Tel +385 (0)1 481 6455, +385 (0)98 480512.

My City Guide Rotterdam

To give you some ideas for your next weekend! Ok, this year, Rotterdam is one of the best destinations recommended by the New York Times and Rough Guide. But what really inspired me: for last few years, Rotterdam is one of the most dynamic cities in terms of contemporary architecture (post to come). As always walk, walk and discover! And feel free to give me your feedback on these addresses.

Where to stay

Comfortable simple design

the brand new Ibis Rotterdam City Centre is ranked 6th best hotel in Rotterdam by Tripadvisor. The room is small, well thought out (for one person) and very clean (photo above). Bedding and facilities are great and the bathroom has a large shower area. The service is very efficient and smiling. Good location, I could see all the major attractions on foot.

Where going out

Sumatraweg, a charming place

with several vintage decor cafes and few restaurants (photo 1). My favorite is the Kopi Soesoe: nice and quiet atmosphere with lovely decor (photos above).

Close to Sumatraweg in a warehouse

the Fenix Food Factory is a covered market with several restaurants on a dock. This is my big favorite! The place is cozy, tastefully arranged and with a New York touch! Perfect for a late brunch.

On the photo montage above: 1.  & 2. Kapse Brouwers is both a brewery and a coffee shop offering a variety of beers and also Britain cider. 3. Jordy’s Bakery, a bakery. On the photo montage below: 1. & 2. a restaurant that proposes an incredible variety of delicious Dutch cheeses and crottins Chavignol too.

Panoramic view of the various banks

from the Hotel New York terrace. I wish I could stay there after a long architecture walk, but as it rained! So I decide to do a quick tour of the hotel located in the former offices of the Holland America Line. A piece of history! Photo below: the really cool toilets for women.

Witte by night

Long street with bars, cafes and restaurants in the arty bohemian atmosphere. Witte is a five minute walk from the Museum Quarter. Photo above: translation of the text on drawing “Suddenly when I was kissing my nipples, I saw hundreds of men looking at me.” Funky! Lol! Photo Montage below: 1 Main Street. 2 the “flying bartender”, this guy kept jumping in the air at the sight of my phone! Lol! 3 & 4 Bazaar, with a DIY decor, really cool coffee and restaurant!

Thanks to the Accor Hotels to invite me in Rotterdam. As always these are my opinions.

Costa Neo Romantica: The Interiors

My short cruise in the Mediterranean

Following my previous posts, I received emails asking me how the Costa Neo Romantica’s interiors look like. Honestly, it’s really like “The Love Boat”! The interiors were freshly redesigned by Swedish designers and some of them look like the film sets of Lynch (picture 1), or Tarantino (picture 2). Yes I know, I have lots of imagination (LOL!).

As I stood outside, especially on the upper decks to enjoy the stonish panorama in my wicker egg (so relaxing and design!), or I was out and about at each stopover, I did not really pay attention to the interiors. Picture 3: Internet to calm the nerd!!! Pictures 4 & 5: really good gourmet restaurant.
