Four amazing restaurants in Tokyo

TOKYO CITY GUIDE : RESTAURANTS / DINNER

Keyakizaka

is one of the Grand Hyatt Tokyo‘s restaurants. This innovative Teppanyaki (literally “grilled on iron sheet”) features fresh seasonal meats, seafood and vegetables. The cuisine is a meeting between Japan and the world. I’m not a gourmet, but I can recognize an amazing quality of food. The cooking respects the original flavours of ingredients. Everything is light and tasteful, so perfect, including the dishes presentation. The atmosphere of the Keyakizaka is chic and laid back, with a cosmopolite young crowd. More: HERE.

Kozue

I was invited for a dinner at the 40th floor restaurant of the Park Hyatt Tokyo (yes, the famous hotel of “Lost in Translation”!), Kozue. I really enjoyed the delicious Japanese cooking and the fantastic view of Fuji San and Tokyo! Could you imagine eating in front of  Fuji San? This is an outstanding culinary experience. I also had a huge crush for the superb earthenware plates and dishes created by craftsmen throughout Japan. Beautiful dinner. More: HERE

Design Festa Gallery & Café

Two friends brought me in this crazy space (very organized too): the Design Festa Gallery & Café. This gallery building looks like an arty squatt with a café-restaurant. Exciting paintings on walls. Uplifting vibe, we felt so comfortable. The speciality: Okonomiyake that you cook on the hotplate in the center of tables. Well to be honest, I‘ve never liked Okonomiyake (lol), especially the Japanese mayonnaise. But I have to post a video showing how to cook it, because everybody loves Okonomiyake and I’m sure you will!

Small Alley Near JR Shibuya Station

As recommended by the insider, Dan Ushikubo, I went to “a very small alley near the main exit of the JR Shibuya station, where salary men drink sake and have dinner after work. Less famous, but very local”. I had a dinner with a westerner friend, expat in Tokyo, in a tiny restaurant: great experience! The food was okay (lots of tofu). Go there for the local vibe! I was a guest of the Grand Hyatt Tokyo and Park Hyatt Tokyo. Do I need to mention that all my opinions are mine? Yes they are!

Tokyo, Japan: A walk and coffee in Omotesando and Aoyama

TOKYO CITY GUIDE : DISTRICT / OMOTESANDO

Omotesando

has many faces. Walk in small streets near the big avenue and you’ll discover different exciting villages: from super hype atmosphere to pastoral set and hipsters etc …

Don’t expect me tons of addresses, I am rather picky kind. First stop at the avant garde Wut Berlin, this boutique is dedicated to Berliner creation and young designers.

A small charming cafe

Japanese loves miniatures. And this Bambi family’s miniature (picture above) is a quaint detail of the Uzna Omon decoration, a small chaming café pretty confidential where you can eat too (desserts look amazing!).

Happy the ones able to find it without the help of an insider (TY N!) … upstairs in a flat with a small balcony: nice Jingumae roof top view. Plus a great coffees selection and art gallery (pictures above).

Need a NY manicure in Tokyo? Babe, you’re such a diva, go to Dashing Diva (picture above)! Tokyo girls and women are crazy about those kawaii-kawaii nails. Still, yep! Not really my style, but fun to see.

Aoyama, the trendiest district of Tokyo

High range shopping of international fashion designers and luxury brands, in ab fab architectures. Fanciful night walk between shops and art galleries: “at night, everything is more beautiful”.

I felt a bit frustrated when my camera shuts down, no more battery. What a pity! Pictures on the bottom of the board below: a kind of « Star Wars » building, maybe an art gallery?

The other colour pictures: the famous Prada buiding by the architects Herzog and De Meuron. And the black and white picture: an advertising with Queen B.

Don’t forget to check out the crazy architecture of the Tsumori Chisato’s shop and few others…

Areias do Seixo: A Room With A Small Fireplace

MlleLeK Portugal Areias do Seixo 9

Superb design hotel with a unique service and entirely nature oriented

I was invited by the Areias do Seixo to spend the weekend with a friend. This eco-luxury hotel is 1h drive from Lisbon! An unforgettable experience : I’m more and more  sensitive to innovative initiatives that put the environment at the center of their concerns. The subject fascinates both owners Marta Fonseca and Gonçalvo Alves I had the opportunity to meet !

What a great surprise to discover our spacious room, bathed in natural light! Concrete walls and floor, a mini glass fire place with black metal, placed on a concrete table (picture 10). Excellent homemade crackers on a metal tray. Very few elements, two chaises (picture 4), hints of colors, beautiful handmade mirrors, wicker baskets, wooden lamp and input tagged with chalk (last photo) door. Two comfortable twin beds (picture 1) facing the bay window overlooking the garden, the vegetable garden and path leading to the dunes, miles of beaches and cliffs in the wild part of the Costa de Prata (pictures 2 & 7).

Plus an amazing giant bathroom extremely comfortable, length mirrors on pebble walls and a large shower in the center of the room (pictures 6 & 9). Unfortunately I didn’t have time to try the deep tub in concrete dug into the ground. Another great detail that I liked very much : no TV in the room. Falling asleep flipping Attitude, the excellent Portugese design magazine, or watching the fire to crackle!
