The Caudalie Spa @ Les Etangs de Corot, near Paris

Let’s Drive To The Spa Caudalie,

Les Etangs de Corot in Ville d’Avray : 30 to 45 minutes from the centre of Paris. At the minimalist spa reception, they have an eye for detail (picture 2). And I’ve enjoyed shooting snapshots of the bucolic hotel, Les Etangs de Corot (coming-up post). Nestled in a scenic countryside, I feel being in an Impressionist painting. To be honest after my wow experience of the face anti-aging line Vinexpert, I was curious about Caudalie’s body treatment. So today I choice the relaxing massage with essential oils and a strong and pleasant scent of mint.

I come into one of the rooms with a stunning view of a large pond. And I feel a mega zen vibe (picture above). Playing really low, I hear a – something – post new age music, when I lay down on a table. A gentle warm oil is applied to the skin in circular movements : the massage starts with the back and the nape of the neck. Then the right arm, leg and foot, same with the left side. Changing position (lying on the back), for massaging of the bust, stomach and legs. And I discover a new massage on the calves : bent leg, sat on my foot, the massage therapist massages the back of the calf. It is amazingly relaxing for muscles. She repeats the same movements to my left calf.

This body massage is a premiere. I am much more in therapeutic Thai and Chinese massages. After those dynamic oilfree massages, you feel exhausted. You have to wait for one day to feel deeply good. Here the massage lasts 50 minutes and I feel relaxed, in a lighter body. The massage therapist takes me in a small rest room with a great pond’s view. But I prefer the bigger room next to the spa reception (picture 3). I quickly drink a red infusion (with grape?), I’ve already been late for my lunch @ the Café des Artistes (le bistrot de l’hôtel Les Etangs de Corots).

The Bell Hotel in Sandwich

After visiting the stonished gradens of Walmer Castel, direction The Bell Hotel in Sandwich. I was looking for my way, when an inhabitant answered me “Oh the the posh hotel…”. Three quarts later (joking), I discover my comfortable single room : sober and  relaxing with a good soundproofing. The small bathroom doesn’t have any bath, but the shower is impeccable. The hotel is made of different old houses, linked by a maze of scales and corridors leading to the guests rooms. So better not bringing heavy luggages! I suddenly woke up to  have dinner in The Bell Hotel’s restaurant : very good cooking (excellent fish). And last not least, the detail that makes the difference : the kindness of the staff.

The Crossing from Dunkerque to Dover

I go visiting Kent. Why? Because, I only know London (surprising!) and Ms Moss has a home in Kent (oops! gossip girl, shame on me!).  And it’s summertime and I want to have a big breath of fresh air in a superb English garden. More exclusive than dancefloors in Ibiza, isn’t it? So here the pictures of my first crossing from Dunkerque to Dover, aboard the DFDS Seaways ferry. Landscapes are  really impressive. The emerald green water’s color is amazing!

Pictures 2 & 3: Bye Bye Dunkerque! Lovely natural light and dramatic clouds, I feel spoiled as a photographer. But it’s too much windy on the decks, I chill in the relaxing VIP lounge, accessible with a first class ticket.

Picturess 4 & 5: the famous White Cliffs of Dover! The frame is striking, hypnotic. White as chalk, those cliffs take a plunge in a cristallin water dark blue and emeraud green. Stonished!

Last picture: I arrive in Dover. Direction a small bay nestled in the White Cliffs : follow me there in my next post!

Infos : the Ferry FDS Seaways good deal, from 1/6 till 30/9/11 : return trip on the same day, with a passenger car (max 7 people), 29€ per car. Or 5 days return trip: from 49€ per car with max 4 people. Phone: +32 (0)2 719 90 92, www.norfolkline.com, [email protected].
