Esplanade Zagreb: A Room

I arrived in the evening at the Esplanade Zagreb,

the cuisine of Le Bistro Esplanade closed soon. Check-in completed at the reception desk, I was kindly directed to the restaurant. After dinner, I wanted to do few snapshots of the hotel and I spent lots of time… of course … Still not seen my room. Along the way I discovered a kind of debutante ball, among the thousand decorative objects that arouse my curiosity. Then completely knockout (more than 24 hours without sleeping), I finally go to my room. Opening the door, I have the feeling that I know the place which is very nice. Even the Coca Zero “Frend” (mate) greets me! The room is spacious and cozy, with a comfortable seating area and long windows.

But the real good surprise: the bathroom

designed as an open space, large, clean and functional with a glam touch of Art Deco. A pleasure to use: no door or wall with the room. Without vampirizing space, such as when the tub is placed opposite the bed: I hate and it can be found in a plethora of design hotels! Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fane of design and crazy architecture.

But in some upscale hotels that were palaces in the past, I especially like their ability to anticipate the notion of comfort for each guest. In my case, I need a large number of electrical outlets in the room for my several chargers (cameras, mobile and laptop). I also need indirect lighting that is not too strong (neither too dark) and a perfect bedding. And do I have to mention free efficient wifi in all areas of the hotel? The Esplanade Zagreb has perfectly fulfilled all these criteria.

Elephant Hills, Thailand: Luxury Tent Next To The Rainforest

After my unforgettable encounter with the awsome Haha

and other elephants: return to Elephant Hills camp, where I really discover my spacious tent in details. Back tired, but full of pictures of this endless day started at dawn at Cheio Larn Lake, I took these pictures before collapsing. Or almost collapsing, because after, I have to go dinner…

The tent is awsome! Simply decorated and inspired by an African lodge revised Thai way. Each element recalls the elephants: stools, towel racks … like in the picture 6. Nicewooden floors: I take off our shoes before entering the tent. And my advice is do not leave your shoes outside, if you don’t want to find a colony of insects!

The tent is also comfortable, with mosquito nets everywhere

(pictures 2, 3 and 4). And I was able to sleep without a mosquito (or any other visible insect), a bless! Impeccable bedding next to the fan. But the big thing is the real bathroom (picture 5)! Yes, a real one: clean, pretty and useful (cold water only, it’s okay for me). Since leaving Chumphon, I’ve dreamed of it!

To conclude for my first “camping”experience in Thailand (LOL!), I love it! Another detail I found quite fun, the lock that serves as a key to close the tent (really old school process, lol). You should not need to make fifty back and forth to your tent in the evening, it quickly becomes bothering! Last picture: the path to the tents.

East Sussex, UK: Hastings House, A Room In A Cosy Refine Bed & Breakfast In Hastings

What a great surprise! Here is a stylish Bed and Breakfast of eight rooms, run by a couple of Australians, much more better than some 4 star hotels!  A personalized outstanding hospitality. Upon check-in, Loy Seng, the owner welcomes you by offering you a drink of what you want. Here the hosts are detail oriented. And the new equipment is very well maintained. On the top floor, I’m discovering my room. The setting worthy of a good design hotel! An iPod station, the original bedside lamp, but mostly the large minimalist bathroom! I love it! Gray tiles, maxi bathtub, design faucets, extra clean toilet, mirror sets, beautiful finishes and bright light (pictures 2 & 3). Less is more! Seng confirms me they have used a decorator. Not to mention the perfect bedding and the excellent breakfast, cooked by Elizabeth, his wife. The Hastings House is a bit eccentric to the tourist area of Hastings : 20 minutes of an invigorating walk along the seafront to get there. The Beb & Breakfast is also 10 minutes from St Leonards: stop at the Post Office Tea Rooms, for an English tea & scones break.
