Esplanade Zagreb: The Oleander Terrace and Le Bistro Esplanade

Great surprise on my way to breakfast

at the Esplanade Zagreb: the huge terrace of the chic Oleander Terrace. Discrete mixture of tourists and businessmen. Some shrubs, umbrellas and a lot of space. I dreamed it for a long time! Nothing’s better for the mood: the sun, some fresh or dried fruits and especially a  blue blue sky, yes! 8 a.m. and already this incredible brightness: meaning galvanized me!

After an endless bad winter and the worst spring, I have an overwhelming need to see the sun, be in the sun (in the shade, LOL!) and “Get Lucky” (Daft punk!) The night before, I didn’t pay attention to the exterior architecture of the hotel and its surroundings. Impressive facade (pictures 4 & 5), the charm of the roaring twenties, revised and corrected (the hotel was renovated in 2004).

Le Bistro Esplanade

Art deco decoration in The Bistro Esplanade, where I dined late last night (pictures 6,7,8, 9 & 10). The service is attentive and the food, light and really tasty, blending French and Croatian flavors. I also appreciated the fact that I could isolate myself quietly. After more than 24 hours without sleep, I was happy not to have to cross the town for dinner (my Tokyo syndrome!).

Soon, I have an appointment with Dora, my insder guide for a tour of a few hours in the old town. This is a great option if you have very little time and a natural predisposition to get lost! Really! And I’m not the type to be satisfied with the classic tourist circuit. I’m more interested in taking the pulse of the city (suspens!). Needless to say I enjoy every minute on the terrace, where I could spend hours and hours to plan my day (LOL!). Lazy girl!

My First Golf Lesson @ The Golf & Spa Resort Andreus

I’m on the road to S. Leonardo in Passiria,

where I will have my first golf lesson (of my life!), with Daniel Fink, the handsome young local champion. Me and golf, it’s a bit like me and yoga (!): NO connection, but am curious!

The Golf and Spa Resort Andreus (picture 1) includes the 18-hole course “Passeier Meran“: 60 hectares with seven lakes in a beautiful natural setting. One of the most beautiful golf courses in the Süd Tirol.

Now it’s raining and we’re heading to the indoor practice (photo below: Mirror my beautiful mirror, tell me that I have the right gesture!). The parctice is the “training area with practice balls.”

After thousand trials,

wow at length I succeeded to hit few balls well (last pictures: Okay all of those balls aren’t mine, lol).

We’re going on the pitch and putt: patience game to put the ball in the hole, it gets on my nerves (lol)! I even forget the rain! I do prefer the practice, more fun!

My arm and shoulders are a bit painful. Course done, I head to the beauty center of the resort area, for a neck massage. To be continued …

Vigilius Mountain Resort: A Room At The Top Of Mountain

The Room Is Spacious

No TV and very few fournitures as I like, almost monastic. After a very long day, between the airports, the road from Munich to Lana via Merano, the stunning scenery of the Adige valley and Dolomiti … and a private cable car to access the Vigilius Mountain Resort, a stylish ecolodge at 1500 meters altitude, surrounded by nature: finally I can sit and relaxe.

Far from the world and crowds, I disconnect. No laptop (what a challenge!), nothing! From the huge window, the view is just breathtaking. High mountains covered with virgin forests. In the dark dawning, the air is fresh, pure and invigorating. I can spend hours here contemplative, but I have a dinner at 1500 Restaurant (beautifull view at breakfast).

The morning, around 6 a.m., my room is bathed in a soft red light, first rays of sunlight piercing clouds, the view is spectacular (pictures 5 and 1)! Difficult to get out of bed (spotless bedding), to join the spa and enjoy the pool at the opening.
