Visiting The Showroom of The Designer Christian Wijnants in Antwerp

If you followed my previous posts about my rush on high heels through Antwerp (Belgium) during the press days, here is my final stop at the fashion designer’s showroom and workshop, Christian Wijnants (picture 3). Last but not least! It is 8 p.m. something when I finally arrive at the showroom, during the walk my feet were so painful, I had to swap my sexy shoes for a pair of Converse! I really enjoy dicovering designer workshops. On the picture above: the mood board of the Spring-Summer 2013 collection, inspired by Aung Sun Suu Kyi and an imaginary journey in Asia and also a movie with Tom Hanks about the end of childhood and the beginning of the teenage years, projected on a wall of the showroom … Oops sorry I lost the title! Some prints of the collection were carried out in collaboration with a photographer. The materials are light and really soft: I really like several items like tank tops, “sarong” skirts and baggy pants! I will post soon a look book of Christian’s Spring-Summer 2013 collection (picture 2). L’invitation au voyage …

Thank you Christian Wijnants.

Brussels: Discover The Northern Thailand Cuisine @ Les Larmes du Tigre

Recently I was invited to a press lunch at the Brussels famous restaurant, Les Larmes du Tigre, in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand. As usual: after I got lost (yep, I went to another restaurant, could you believe this!), I managed to arrive on time! After the  warm welcome of Mark Beukers, the owner and his team : ouch, I perceive that I forgot my camera (!). Fortunately, a journalist friend lent me her phone (thank you R!) and I could make these few snapshots. I’m nicely surprised by the result! I’ve been a few times in Thailand, never in the North: from November 15 to January 26, Les Larmes du Tigre, the Office of Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways have joined forces to highlight the cuisine of Northern Thailand. I discover this delicious cooking, combining pleasure of the eyes and the palate and so nicely presented and tasty. Honestly I’m light years of this boring endless trend of non stop fooding everywhere! Here are some pictures of one of the dishes on this six services menu. Photo 2: Kaeng Kung Hooe, prawns with curry from the north and mixed vegetables. Photo 3: assorted raw vegetables with an excellent eggplant caviar. Photo 4: Ab Pla, bass fillet grilled in a banana leaf with Thai herbs. Congratulations to Chef Apple! And while you enjoy your meal, you can admire portraits of the Thai photographer, Cholavit.

Barcelona in 3 hours “for dummies” (lol)?

First stopover:

time to get out of the boat and leave the port area (by walk, really not my best idea!), it’s already been 2:30 pm (photo 2). My “first” time in Barcelona for 3 hours in the city only!

And I decided to discover the different areas by the Barcelona City Tour bus tour, the red tour which lasts 3:30 minimum! So be careful!

You can get off the bus to take another one, as many times as you want during 24 or 48 hours and change the tour (red, green or blue). I need flexibility as an independent traveller.

Unfortunately I don’t have enough time

to go visiting some of the many sites. But I do an exception for La Pedrera, a house designed by the famous architect Gaudi (pictures 1 & 3).

I take this opportunity to run to another iconic work of Gaudi, the Sagrada Familia which I see as facades by lack of time (pictures 4). But the magic doesn’t operate, I don’t like the exterior details and the imposing porch

I enjoyed more the quiet empty streets to get there. And I rush back to La Perdrera to jump in the bus, where I can see the facade of Casa Batllo (picture 5) of Gaudi.

Time flies: when finally I arrived at Las Ramblas,

the area reminds me of New York: the rythm, crowd and major intersections (picture below). At the statue of Christopher Columbus stop, I jumped into a taxi to the Costa Neo Romantica.

In 15 mn, at 6:15 pm the boat leaves the port! Bye bye Barcelona, I will come back for sure. I have a mixed feeling of having seen all and nothing. I need to come back… To be continued, next stop in…

And today question is: if you had a 3 hours stopover in Barcelona, what would you do or visit?
