3 Restaurants in Lisbon, Portugal

Restaurants in Lisbon-Cervejaria da Esquina-1-Photo Mademoiselle Le K-copyright 2013

Oops who spoke about diet? LOL! Invitations, no way to refuse them, right? Especially when different friends invited me to three restaurants, with different atmospheres, foods and interiors! Dinner with girlfriends, arty lunch in a funky hostel and a more formal restaurant of Portuguese cuisine. For all three, it is best to book ahead.

1. CERVEJARIA DA ESQUINA (pictures above & 2)

First crush for the good atmosphere, people are easy going and the service is nice! And the food is creative. Delicious fried (but not greasy) shrimps with a super yummy avocado sauce. And as a dessert, although I’m not found of chocolate mousse (no, it’s true!) … I cracked for one! Lovely dishes presentation and the minimalist  decor could be Nordic! Thanks girls, you were able to cheer me up!  Rue Correia Teles n°56, Campo de Ourique. T. (+351) 213 874 644.

2. THE DECADENTE (picture above and lay out below)

And here is my second fav! Bohemian attitude in Bairro Alto: the interior is a fresh mix of vintage and design and the atmosphere is laid back, with a traveler spirit. Arty friends invited me in this hostel, the trendiest of Lisbon, of course … The Decadente offers at lunch, a cheap tasty light menu, with nice portions (neither too much nor too little). The first meal (1), a pea soup, the dish (2), a cod (Bacalao) with a little green salad and for the dessert, a mini portion of fresh fruit salad. Bubbling! Rua Sao Pedro de Alcantara 81. T. A CHARCUTERIA (picture above and lay out below)

Invited by a friends couple that I love, it was really a pleasure to see them and share with them this moment in this chic restaurant. But I found the place (a reference to Lisbon) pretty pretentious and lacking of warmth and generosity! We were seated near a table of ten smokers who smoked cigarillo and cigars! Enough to lose the flavor of food! What about the Portugese food? Excellent Empada da galinha (1),a kind of small chicken pie. But I didn’t like the main course (2): Rissois of camarao, shrimp fritters (the sauce inside tasted like Bechamel), too heavy. Accompanied by a tomato rice (Arroz de tomate), too salty. Rua do Alecrim 47 A, T. (+351) 213 423 845

DESTINATIONS & LIFESTYLE

My beauty routine: The Moisturizing Gel Cream of La Mer

MlleLeK La Mer 1

After the cleansing step, the care step!

My last two and a half months focus was hydration … and if possible with a lil something extra (like in the very latest formulas combining anti-aging and firming!). First I was looking for a cream that my skin tolerates and gives me comfort and radiance. Then nourishes without greasing, because in summer my combination skin becomes oily. And if possible, pleasant to apply. So I tested The Moisturizing Gel Cream of La Mer, the version for oily skin of the famous La Mer cream, with many virtues.

Unique texture that immediately melts into the skin, leaving a very light scent. Perfect for hot and humid climates. The first fifteen days, I had a mixed feeling and expected …  a kind of “miracle” of the skin, given the history of the cult cream of La Mer! Of course the hydration level was high, but nothing more … After a month, the first visible effect: the complexion is brightened. And the texture of the skin is improved. It is denser and firmer. Its appearance is more regular. At the end of two months and a half, then I see a real “visible” improvement: my skin looks healthy and toned. And it’s true, I’m pretty blown away!

In addition, I also used  The Eye Concentrate of La Mer to be applied to the eye. I really like the texture of the cream that hydrates and nourishes the eye area and lips. In spite of a high comfort for the skin, once in two my eyes are irritated. So I use it only rarely and in small quantities, preferably before going to bed. To be honest I have lots of trouble finding a cream that does not irritate my eyes.

My Face Beauty Routine: Cleanser and Toner

MlleLeK Caudalie & La Roche Posay

Finally a beauty routine about cleanser and tonic that has managed to my skin!

After months of allergies and reactions: the lull for two and a half months and my skin has found back a beautiful shine! Although the products are different, I dug into my two of my favorite brands: Caudalie and La Roche Posay. And in addition to this post, for the care: I also tested the famous Creme de La Mer, face and eyes for the first time (post to come). But let’s start by cleaning the face. I started my new routine during the summer and at this time of year, my combination skin becomes oily. So I opted for the Instant Foaming Cleanser of  Caudalie, with grapes and sage which is rinsed with water (1). It is soap-free and very gentle for the skin. I like foams although my dermatologist is strictly against all the products that can be rinsed with water, for very sensitive skin!

As a toner, here is my magic potion (yes, it is!) After rinsing the foam, I gently sponge the fac. Then I spray the Thermal Spring Water Sensitive Skin of La Roche Posay all over the face, to soothe the skin (2). Followed by an application of Beauty Elixir of Caudalie, composed of grape, orange blossom, rose, balm mint and rosemary (3). I wait a bit for it to dry and wipe the rest with a tissue. Guaranteed toning effect, especially if these sprays are left in the fridge! During my first two applications of Beauty Elixir, I felt as tingling. So without waiting I rinsed my face with water, because I was afraid of an allergy or bad skin reaction. But after the third application, I had an incredible feeling of freshness (menthol) and energizing! Here’s a winning trio to prepare the skin to care.
