Tokyo, Japan: A walk and Shopping in Harajuku

TOKYO CITY GUIDE : DISTRICT / HARAJUKU

Tokyo-Harajuku-Shopping-1-Photo Mademoiselle Le K-copyright 2014

Takeshi-Dori,

the pedestrianized famous street of Harajuku, I‘m not a big fan for shopping. Cheap bazaar for teenagers and teens alduts. Each tribe has its own shop.

There are also H&M and cie… near the super famous La Forêt building: metro station, Meiji-Jingumae or Harajuku. Let’s go “crazy” and jump in this streets maze, to discover some interesting shops.

I liked Jack‘s Vintage Clothing

for some 50-60’s Rock‘n Roll vintage outfits, accessories and shoes for women and men. Really cool owner , also the leader of a Punk Rock band.

Have you ever tried a Japanese Punk Rock Karaoke? I DID! Kind of a blaze for my ears! But it was really fun too, Lol! For the complete adress of the shop: [email protected]

Stop at the next door in the very inspiring Nihon Manga Fetichist Shop: so what do you do after school or job? (pictures below).

Myself and I become a Manga babe.

A trashy suga babe inspired by Japanse cartoons, with fluorescent pink and green lens. It started here in Tokyo years ago, as a Pokemon acid princess. “Oups!” : metallic eyelash fluttering, I stood on my 50 cm lemon platform shoes.

When I got in the shop, they  were shooting a flyer. Domo arigato gosaimasu to Aya, Coco and all the team. And if you are really sweet, maybe I will post a picture of me dressed up like a Manga doll, surrounded by all my supa supa cool Pokemon friends : )

Then let’s cross Meji Street

to reach the underground fashion designers side and head at my Beams favourite concept store (which is more a gallery and bookshop): TOKYO CULTuART by BEAMS

Thank you Katsuhiro for the Beams shops guided tour! The toys for willing grown-up are extremely tempting!

I’m still a huge fan of the Transformer “Cyubu 01″ of Moderhythm (picture below) and colourful plastic mini bike monsters (pictures above), so great!

Tokyo, Japan: A walk and coffee in Omotesando and Aoyama

TOKYO CITY GUIDE : DISTRICT / OMOTESANDO

Tokyo-Japan-Omotesando-1-Photo Mademoiselle Le K-copyright 2014

Omotesando

has many faces. Walk in small streets near the big avenue and you’ll discover different exciting villages: from super hype atmosphere to pastoral set and hipsters etc …

Don’t expect me tons of addresses, I am rather picky kind. First stop at the avant garde Wut Berlin, this boutique is dedicated to Berliner creation and young designers.

A small charming cafe

Japanese loves miniatures. And this Bambi family’s miniature (picture above) is a quaint detail of the Uzna Omon decoration, a small chaming café pretty confidential where you can eat too (desserts look amazing!).

Happy the ones able to find it without the help of an insider (TY N!) … upstairs in a flat with a small balcony: nice Jingumae roof top view. Plus a great coffees selection and art gallery (pictures above).

Need a NY manicure in Tokyo? Babe, you’re such a diva, go to Dashing Diva (picture above)! Tokyo girls and women are crazy about those kawaii-kawaii nails. Still, yep! Not really my style, but fun to see.

Aoyama, the trendiest district of Tokyo

High range shopping of international fashion designers and luxury brands, in ab fab architectures. Fanciful night walk between shops and art galleries: “at night, everything is more beautiful”.

I felt a bit frustrated when my camera shuts down, no more battery. What a pity! Pictures on the bottom of the board below: a kind of « Star Wars » building, maybe an art gallery?

The other colour pictures: the famous Prada buiding by the architects Herzog and De Meuron. And the black and white picture: an advertising with Queen B.

Don’t forget to check out the crazy architecture of the Tsumori Chisato’s shop and few others…

Meeting Sandra Gato, the Editor in Chief of ELLE Portugal

MlleLeK - Meeting Sandra Gato - ELLE Portugal - 1

If you’ve never opened it, you will soon become addicted! It is bubbling, colorful and happy! Yes, happy because it just turned 25 years (picture above) : – ELLE Portugal is trying to uplift women’s life and to keep the dream alive! So if like me, you need positive vibes and to escape with beautiful images and punchy fashion shoots, check out the fresh breeze blowing across the magazine thanks to Sandra Gato, the new Editor in Chief.

– Words are my passion. Communication too. When you work as an Editor in Chief, you have to accessorize words with editing. After studies of journalism and a training in Cosmopolitan, Sandra’s worked for the ELLE Portugal for 21 years : – The magazine changed a lot and I changed with it. I wrote about so many interesting things, it’s always new. We want to anticipate the trends and cheer the change with Portugese women to give them the choice. We don’t want to dictate anything

Talking about the change, have Portugese women changed a lot? – Yes, they are so different than they used to be. They are educated, career wise and much more trendy aware. They take more care about themselves. And they are enjoying lifeSmiling, Sandra adds : – We’re not doing crazy fashion shoots. We always mix high fashion with other brands like H&M for exemple. We are close to our readers, the real women. We just want to inspire them.

What about the new generation of Portugese Fashion Designers? – For us Nuno Baltazar is one of the best : trendy clothes easy to wear, with great details. Very feminine dresses well cut in really good material. He’s been successfull for 6-8 years. And of course there is Felipe Oliveira Baptista, but he’s based in Paris. It’s difficult for young talents here, but crisis brings more creativity. We’ve still had to believe more in our talents to promote them. We are very good professional when we are outside the country. We need to have more self esteem. But every decade, we are growing and getting better.

Last October “to expend ELLE world“, ELLE.pt was launched : – It’s a complement of the magazine. There are two different things, with a different language : we are closer to readers on the site. The communication is more immediate. It’s the future. And in the magazine we want to be a luxury product.

MlleLeK - Meeting Sandra Gato - ELLE Portugal - 3

As Sandra used to be a lifestyle editor, I asked her about some of her favourite spots in Portugal :

1. In Lisbon, they are always new small restaurants, like Taberna da Rua das Flores in Chiado. For a luxury shopping, check out Avenida da Liberdad and Fashion Clinic. For trendy spots, LX Factory and Embaxiada.

2. O’Porto is blooming. There are a lot of new shops with a vintage vibe. They have a new way to look at our past. And you have to go to Douro to see the beauty of the landscapes.

3. For me, Alentejo it’s like peace : very friendly people and the food is beautiful. Visit Evora, a beautiful town and the Alentejo coast!

Many thanks Sandra and happy birthday to the ELLE Portugal!
