Philadelphia: Sun Ra, jazz band

To end 2008 in music: my funny bizarre meeting with the mythical Jazz band, Sun Ra created by the eponymous virtuoso charismatic founder, dead in 1993. How to discribe you Sun Ra‘s music: inspired and avant-garde and elitist… coming from a far Cosmos, Saturn, I quote. And the veterans looks are also inspired. Shiny shiny like stars. Thanks to the mystery connection with the ring of Saturn, three Venus girls: Akemi San, Miss H and I, have been transformed in ballet dancers (a short of Isadora Ducan of the futur) and champagne guests for the Jazz band during few hours, a New Year Eve, in the really smart Culture Center of Philly! I precise the pink dress belongs to a lady of the audience. And perfectly illustrates the mix between arty and bobo more highbrow than bohemian. The America of indpendant movies. Enjoy the flav!

And please before leaving don’t forget your Boosty Collins jacket and miniature disco bowl, to bring back the crazy feeling at home sweet home: freaky groovy 09!

Philadelphia by night: ?uestlove mix (The Roots) and snack @ Jim’s Steak

Big up to Philly! Philadelphia is the hometown of The Roots. So after my photo shoot of the famous band in Paris, what about a live mix of ?uestlove (the drum) at Fluid, in Philly? Yes three days of pure sound in Philly baby! Next post: my meeting with the psychedelic mythical jazz band, Sun Ra.

After many dancefloor hours (the resultut on picture below, my feet break): a snack at the Jim’s Steaks au top depuis 1939! A culinary short lesson how to prepare the Jim‘s hamburger. After the academic Pink’s L.A. hot dog, I’ve started a real chronical of the Amercan food(ing) . Too bad, I dont like steaks and I’ve prefered talking with a turquoise green blue beard nice guy: a Wrestling star (last picture: sorry guys, no way for you to check the colour beard!). Wow wow! Show must go on!

DJ Chicken Playlist

Back from my L.A city guide (previous posts), difficult to start the most fashionable month of this really busy  autumn. I felt the huge need of music, a different music than the three insipid songs of the moment. So I asked my Bollywood friend Mr. Chicken Tandoori aka DJ Chicken to cook spicy a surprising but not boring playlist for Mademoiselle Le K. And the result is simply brilliant. Ultra rock, a bit trash and smart, sometimes eighties and somtimes groovy and sometimes totally freaky ! Narrative music. From the first listening, two pearls: Diskonoise (Los Chicros) and Rich Girls (The Virgins), I love.

Thai Elvis, the special guest (we’ve still waited for his answer). Glen, magic keyboards and electro composer. It just misses our sexiest partner, Al K., the guitar hero who’s already had an ego trip and hates pictures.
