SMDB is not Tektonik !

Last January, « 2001: A space odyssey » deafening white light, of a moribund « Who’s Next », last day, last hours, not so many people.

I follow the SMDB’s producer Nadine, in different paths of the fair of the youth’s fashion ultimate trends . Most of the stands are kept by « tired » thirties-forties years old, looking like bling bling younger brothers forever. So what about the SMDB ? Now, I still haven’t got any idea. We are walking quickly between colorful trademarks, looking for the dancers (serial shoppers too).

We found the boys and a not quiet spot to start the interview. Three nice teens (18-19 years old) that move a lot their arms on Tektonik… Sacrilege : not Tektonik ! Tektonik is the registered name of a party. I’m learning. So three young people that convulse on a techno dance floor : nothing really new say older brothers ! Ok Ok, could you imagine their little U Tube video was watched by more than four millions people : it’s worth an interview, isn’t it ? A slap to the older brothers !

During Bayonnes celebrations, Jack Herror, Spoke et Maestro discover « the electro music, for fun ». They enjoy « the music first » and in club : « they free arms and invent steps ». Then they create the « Milky Way » : each one invents his own choreography, according to his own personality. Free style. I add : according to his stamina and suppleness ! Because our three « wanna be stars» dancers are sportsmen first : an acrobat and a football and a skater. And after taking dance courses, they make the choreography of the last Lorie’s video (a successful singer for chidren and early teenagers). Don’t laugh, kids love it . And I inform me and master few arms movements. I apply their « we don’t dance, we are the dance » motto. Respect ! But this is my absolutely exclusive privacy between my mirror and I !

Many events : right now in Japan they are shooting their music promo, then a European tour, a DVD and a mini album produced by musicians. Where they do voices and bring their different music influences : Rock sixties-seventies for Maestro, minimalist Jazz electro for Jack Herror and « Moon Walk » Hip Hop for Spoke. Fine: I said all ! A planning full of dance, sweat, improbable T-shirts trademarks (I’ll make you discover), girly fans and fluorescent techno kids ! And do you think they realize their success ? « We don’t realize. That’s weird ». Please don’t change boys !

Dear SMDB, I’ve still waited my Milky Way personal training, to play on my blog. See ya guys !

SMDB : ceci n’est pas de la Tektonik !

Janvier dernier, impression de blancheur « 2001 Odyssée de l’Espace », lumière assourdissante d’un « Who’s Next » moribond, dernier jour, dernières heures, pas la grosse affluence.

Je suis Nadine, la productrice des SMDB dans les différentes allées « du » salon des tendances de la sape jeun’s. Où la plupart des stands sont tenus par des 30-40 ans « fatigués », façon petits frères bling bling forever. So la SMDB ? Là, j’en sais encore trop rien. On zig-zague parmi des marques colorées à la recherche des danseurs – serial shoppers .

Repérés, plus lâchés : on trouve un coin pas tranquille, « Magnéto Serge » ! A priori trois sympathiques «authentiques » teens 18-19 ans qui bougent beaucoup-beaucoup surtout les bras sur de la Tektonik… Sacrilège : pas de la Tektonik ! Qui est le nom (déposé) d’une soirée. J’apprends. Donc trois jeun’s prient de convulsions sur un techno dancfloor : jusqu’ici rien de bien nouveau commentent les grands frères ! Ok Ok, ben figurez-vous que leur petite vidéo sur U Tube a été visionnée par plus de quatre millions d’internautes : ça mérite bien une interview nan ! Un peu claque aux grands frères qui se la racontent !

Jack Herror, Spoke et Maestro, lors des fêtes de Bayonnes, découvrent « l’électro » comme ça « pour rigoler ». C’est « d’abord la musique » qui leur a plu, puis dans l’ambiance en boîte, ils ont « libéré les bras, inventé des pas ». De fil en aiguille, créent le « Milky Way » : chacun invente sa chorégraphie en fonction de sa personnalité. Free style. J’ajoute de son endurance et de sa souplesse ! Parce que nos trois wanna be danseurs stars sont à la base sportifs : un acrobate, un footballer et un skateur. Saupoudrez le tout de cours de danse au Centre du Marais et ils enchaînent par la chorégraphie du dernier Lorie formule boostée revisitée. Ne souriez pas, les gamins adorent. Et moi je m’informe, maîtrise deux trois trucs des bras. J’applique le : « we don’t dance, we are the dance ». Respect ! Mais ça reste une affaire strictement privée entre mon miroir et moi !

L’actualité du club des trois ? Chargée : actuellement au Japon à tourner leur prochaine vidéo, une tournée européenne, les sorties d’un DVD et d’un mini album, où ils font les voix, produit avec des musiciens « selon leur univers ». Chacun ayant des influences musicales différentes : Rock sixties-seventies pour Maestro, Jazz électro minimaliste pour Jack Herror et « Moon Walk » Hip Hop pour Spoke. Ouf j’ai tout dit ! En perspective de la danse, de la sueur, du t-shirt aux marques improbables (que je vous ferai découvrir), des groupies et techno kids fluos au sourire bagué à la pelle ! Et pensez-vous que les SMDB sont conscients de leur succès ? « On s’en rend pas compte. C’est bizarre ». Surtout ne changez rien les garçons !

Beijing, China: Midi Music Festival (Part 2)

I’m following Cheizak, the Hip Hop Stage Manager. From time to time, he’s checking if I didn’t loose him. Still on phone, he’s rushing to the stage and we’re making our way through the crowd to go to the backstage. Now here we are, with Chinese Rap stars: really funny, five minutes ago I didn’t known Cheizak! Braids, a big 100 % bling bling pendant of any African king with a huge afro, base-ball caps and gear… Old school, I’m looking for Dre (for the stoutness) and Snoop (for the hairstyle)! Yeah, or maybe they look like latinos west coast rappers too.

Finally boys and girls have all the same uniform than everywhere around the world in the international Hip Hop movement: thanks guys for the diversity! Except one thing: here, they are less show off and it’s really cool! Great vibe! Guess what, I’ve totally forgotten the most important: music plays in the background, on the stage! While the night falls down, I’ve been introduced to many people. I remember: the really nice producer Jeffrey Kung.

The beautiful smiling singer, Tia Ray. She’s chatting with Mr. DJ with his many big silver rings, Chozie. Exodus to the Techno stage: crowd, a DJ, sunglasses, sweat and movement. I’m staying.
