East Sussex, UK: Home Store, a store in the old and the restaurant Kitchen Home Store, in Hastings

If you are found of the “it was better before” trend, you will enjoy Home Store. Opened since January 2012 in Hastings, on several floors, this store will delight the regressive urbans, with old design furniture, lamps, dishes and many other usual and unusual objects (not vintage thanks! Pictures 1 & 2). A world dedicated to fans of Merci (in Paris), or A Vida Portuguesa (in Lisbon). The opening day of  Store Home Kitchen, the restaurant of the store, I quickly met the chef Alastair Hendy which is also the owner of the store. He has been photographer for 20 years and a food photographer and stylist for twelve years (pictures 3 & 4).

East Sussex, Angleterre: Home Store, une boutique pour la maison et son restaurant Home Store Kitchen, à Hastings

Surfant sur la vague très tendance du “c’était mieux avant” en revue et – à peine – corrigé, le magasin Home Store sur plusieurs étages, fera le bonheur des urbains “hype” regressifs, en week-end à Hastings. Ouvert depuis janvier 2012, un univers dédié aux fans de Merci (à Paris), ou A Vida Portuguesa (à Lisbonne). On y trouve sur plusieurs étages, des meubles, luminaires, vaisselles, pots de chambres et autres objets insolites façon grand papa (ouf pas de vintage! Photos 1 & 2). Dernière nouveauté : Home Store Kitchen, le restaurant où j’ai croisé rapidement Alastair Hendy, le chef et propriétaire du magasin (anciennement photographe et styliste culinaire) affairé en cuisine le jour de l’ouverture (photos 3 & 4).

East Sussex, UK: Myerscough & Mairs, The Sophisticated Vintage Shop in Hastings

In Hastings, I selected two shops and one tea room I really liked. The first is: Myerscough & Mairs, a tiny shop  that mixes ancient and modern. A lovely selection of eclectic pieces (like violins) presented in a simple and refined way . The Boho chic with an orientalism touch, made me travel in time. Congratuls to the owners for their impeccable taste! The real pleasant surprise in a small city with too much vintage stores (I was about to make an overdose, I am not a big a vintage fan!).
