The huge need of a road movie to Vegas, the desert and the road from L.A. with the lark. Empty space. On a side, a small nowhere with three casinos, as the preliminary stage of the game fever, « Sexy Back ». Boys are driving, quiet I look at the imposing set. Very few cars. Three « wanna be » days in Vegas, for my « surprise » birthday. Sun raises. I love driving.
L’envie pressante d’un road movie to Vegas, le désert la route depuis L.A. aux aurores. Besoin d’immensités vides. Sur une bretelle, un bled à trois casinos – étape préparatoire à la fièvre du jeu, « Sexy Back ». Les mecs conduisent, je bulle à l’arrière. Sommes tus, imposant décor. De rares voitures. Vegas en trois « wanna be » jours pour mon annif surprise. Le soleil pointe. J’adore rouler.
Not enough time to have a real first look at the Strip, the parking: we get in a casino. Games halls and bars and restaurants and shops succession, without going outside. Never. Decorations go on without any continuity.
Parking suspendu, pas eu le temps de me familiariser avec le Strip, on entre dans un casino, enfilade de salles de jeux, bars, restaurants, magasins, le tout sans sortir, jamais. Les décos s’enchaînent dans une parfaite discontinuité.
Tacky tacky: Marie-Antoinette draperies, tinted mirrors, crystal curtains, quick sands fitted carpet, outrageous pearls, on ceiling colorful flowers in precious blow glass, noises and slot machines and people vertigo. Aliens everywhere!
Tacky tacky : tentures Marie-Antoinette, mirroirs fumés, rideaux de cristal, moquette sables mouvants, délire de perles, plafond fleurs en verre soufflé multicolore, vertige des bruits, des machines, des gens. Alien quand tu nous tiens!
At last the reception desk of « The Hotel » at Mandalay Bay, the Las Vegas « boutique » hotel, one of the great design spots in town. Huge as well, with Metropolis (Fritz Lang) perspectives. Where every detail is art: over sized crazy ceiling lights in metal or Murano glass. Beautiful women’s black and white pictures and in the spa, a smart leather sofa as big as wall. Really nice gift, I enjoy it!
Enfin le hall de « The Hotel » au Mandalay Bay, le « boutique » hôtel de Las Vegas, l’une des dernières tueries design, associé au familial Mandalay Bay. Immense comme il se doit, perspectives à la Metropolis de Fritz Lang. Où l’art du détail prime : lustres fous démeusurés en métal ou verre Murano. Sublimes photos noir et blanc de femmes et spa au siège mural en cuir capitonné. Jolie surprise, suis bluffée !
The very stylish Mandalay Bay shopping arcade, related to The Hotel: here the Fiorucci shop and the original wine merchant. Some Posters of Mix, the very exclusive club with a crazy red design and panoramic view of Vegas, at the roof of The Hotel… Suspence.
La très stylisée galerie marchande du Mandalay Bay, attenante à The Hotel : ici le magasin Fiorucci et une cave à vins. Des affiches du Mix, le très exclusif club au design rouge barré et vue panoramique à 360 degrés sur Vegas au dernier étage de The Hotel… Suspence.
One so so point, suites: boring traditional decoration, nothing to do with the elegance of The Hotel public parts.
Seule fausse note: les suites d’un classicisme banal en absolu décalage avec les parties communes de l’hôtel.
