Africology: Natural Slimming Oils & Creams

Last December,  I found online an interview of ELLE South-Africa‘s chief editor,

(very interesting website, read the excellent ELLE Deco South Africa too!) : Jackie Burger showed her beauty “routine”, including a product of Africology. Never heard about this South Africa cosmetics luxury brand, ethic and environment-friendly.

Renchia Droganis, holistic therapist and Africology founder, created biodegradable natural products with South African essential oils and plants. After a local success story, Africology is now famous in England. I’m more and more puzzled and I want to test those products. I like discovering luxury cosmetics brands from all over the world (like Panpuri in Thailand).

For one month and half, I’ve tested the slimming products of Africology. Fortunately, my skin didn’t react to the essential oils! I do like the 4 products of the picture above! The textures are nourishing, not greasy with a matte finish : great in damp climatic zones. Cellulite Detox (2) is one of my two favourite products: you need to massage this oil into the skin. Nice texture (marula oils rooibos and hypoxis) and the parfum is really strong.

Same for the scent of the 3 other products : strong citronella scent (I’m addictive). I melt this oil  with Slimming Detox Cream, a super moisterising that nourishes my very dry skin. I also melt the Slimming Detox Cream with the Conditionning Body Oil (4). This oil with a matte finish makes my skin extremely soft and my feet like baby ones!!! Twice a week, I use the Body Scrub : the colour and texture of the scrub look like grains of sand that gently wipe the skin.

Did I loose any centimenters using this regiment? No, I didn’t do any diet during my testing, so honestly I couldn’t tell if they have a real slimming effect or not. But my skin looks better, suppler, softer and toner.  Definitely they tone (thanks to the daily massage movements to apply them) and highly moisturize skin. I really enjoy smelling, touching and applying them. And now, I look forward to discover the 64 other products of Afrocology! Maybe in South Africa…

The Caudalie Spa @ Les Etangs de Corot, near Paris

Let’s Drive To The Spa Caudalie,

Les Etangs de Corot in Ville d’Avray : 30 to 45 minutes from the centre of Paris. At the minimalist spa reception, they have an eye for detail (picture 2). And I’ve enjoyed shooting snapshots of the bucolic hotel, Les Etangs de Corot (coming-up post). Nestled in a scenic countryside, I feel being in an Impressionist painting. To be honest after my wow experience of the face anti-aging line Vinexpert, I was curious about Caudalie’s body treatment. So today I choice the relaxing massage with essential oils and a strong and pleasant scent of mint.

I come into one of the rooms with a stunning view of a large pond. And I feel a mega zen vibe (picture above). Playing really low, I hear a – something – post new age music, when I lay down on a table. A gentle warm oil is applied to the skin in circular movements : the massage starts with the back and the nape of the neck. Then the right arm, leg and foot, same with the left side. Changing position (lying on the back), for massaging of the bust, stomach and legs. And I discover a new massage on the calves : bent leg, sat on my foot, the massage therapist massages the back of the calf. It is amazingly relaxing for muscles. She repeats the same movements to my left calf.

This body massage is a premiere. I am much more in therapeutic Thai and Chinese massages. After those dynamic oilfree massages, you feel exhausted. You have to wait for one day to feel deeply good. Here the massage lasts 50 minutes and I feel relaxed, in a lighter body. The massage therapist takes me in a small rest room with a great pond’s view. But I prefer the bigger room next to the spa reception (picture 3). I quickly drink a red infusion (with grape?), I’ve already been late for my lunch @ the Café des Artistes (le bistrot de l’hôtel Les Etangs de Corots).

L’Occitane: Cade After Shave Balm & Cade After Shave Splash For Men

Always curious about my friends skincares,

this time I present you the men’s care: Cade After Shave Balm and Cade After Shave Splash of L’Occitane. A user friend explains me those two cares help his stubble not to grow again under the skin. And cool down and soften his skin after shaving. He quickly concludes with this magic formula: “Thanks to the Cade oil!“. What oil? I decide to know more about this misterious Cade oil!

In the beautiful Provence (I really enjoy this Southern region of France), till the second world war, this oil was produced near junipers, in cylindrical big stones ovens ( called Cade ovens). The juniper wood was slowly burning in the oven top part and people took the Cade oil in the oven lower part. The Cade juniper, is the most common juniper in Mediterranean basin. It’s a small tree with needles leaves.

The Cade oil’s always been used for its healing properties, like an antiseptic and a disinfectant. To treat scabies and psoriasis. Really efficient against rodents and insects too. Respect to the Ancients!
