Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport: An Amazing New Building

If you think Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport is quaint,  not easy to use and absolutely not design, be happy, things are changing! Last April, Pierre Graff, the chairman of Aéroports de Paris, presented the project of a new building connecting the terminal 2A to the terminal 2C, to increase the comfort of the travelers. Second quater 2012, this new building of more than 16 500m², will be “dressed with  metal bands” (pictures above and below). As Marc Fidelle, chief architect of the project, explains : “This metal “leotard” is the signature of the building. Bringing movement and fluidity and lightness, in contrast with the rigor of the others concrete terminal. It bring a warm changing light during the day to the travelers“. So we’ll have to wait several months before discoverng this amazing building and its indoor garden.

Park Hyatt Tokyo: A room with a view

A room with a view

As soon as I went in the room at the Park Hyat Tokyo, I was attracted to the infinite view of Tokyo. Shinjuku sprawling area and further. In weightless conditions from the 43th floor. I turn and discover a welcoming  large room.

Discret sober decoration, creating a cosy feeling, like in a cocoon. You fall in sleep and wake up happy! With a fantastic bedding AND a dream view, in a light space. Awsome!

The bathroom is my very favorite place,

with separete bath, shower and toilet. The great surprise: Aesop products for skin, hair and body! I’m really found of this Autralian cosmetics brand.

Every single detail was thought with care and taste: like the invisible dressing from the bed area and the Japanese sweets and chocolates with refined wrapping.

Grand Hyatt Tokyo: A Room

Tokyo, Roppongi.

I really like the Japanese minimalism and perfectionism of the Grand Hyatt Tokyo : the clear spirit of the decoration, without useless flourish.

Because especially after a very long flight, a hotel means first a room and a location. And a room means perfect bedding and bathroom in a light space.

And when a hotel can offert

(requisite) taste, combined with very demanding comfort and service: it’s a gem! From the entrance of the room, like a rectilinear sheep-dip made of mahogany, I’ve enjoyed the refined “less is more” sense of detail : invisible sockets at the desk, minimum furnitures and wifi for net addicts like me!

The best surprise is the mahogany-coated bathroom:

welcoming, useful and rigourous (nice lightning and dressing and lovely pantropics with Japanese traditional patterns, small details make the difference),

Japanese toilets (a science!) and the bath-shower room : what a pleasure! In Japan, people wash first next to the bath, before having a bath : more hygienic.
