Aspria Avenue Louise: My Muscle Awakening!

Mademoiselle Le K-Aspria-Louise-Day-3-Aerotonic-Swimming-Pool-Hammam-Sauna

Ages since I haven’t done any sport

A few days after my Shiatsu massage, I go to the locker room (picture 3). When I arrive at the studio (picture 1), I’m 5 minutes late and the famous Aerotonique session has already started! Azziz replaces David which is the usual coach. Honestly when Antoine Houssière, the Well-Being Manager of the Aspria Avenue Louise offered me this group course, I didn’t really understand (or try to understand) what it was! I just kept in mind it was dynamic!

From the beginning, I jump and steps to-side-behind-acceleration… very rhythmic cardio! Everyone follows, at first I had trouble to coordinate sequences. When we started to use the ball and the carpet, I understood it’s going to hurt! I can’t exercise such as pumps on one arm (frankly, what an idea! LOL!). But I try, I try everything! Occasionally Azziz checks and corrects our postures. His good humor is contagious and motivating.

At the end of the course I recognize some moves borrowed from the Sun Salutation (Yoga, Tai Chi). I’m extremely tired and sweating, but smiling! I decide to go for a swim in the pool to soothe muscles, plus a bit of hammam, sauna and jacuzzi (picture 2). Then I go straight to bed, yes! The next day, aches all over my body but I “manage” them (LOL!). And the day after that, the aches are more painful. Even laughing hurts my abs, but I feel more positive and highly recommend this trainning! Conclusion I had to postpone my individual coaching session! To be continued …

Aspria Avenue Louise, Brussels: I tested the Shiatsu Massage

Mademoiselle Le K-Aspria-Louise-Day-2-Spa-Shiatsu

Shiatsu time!

I haven’t done any sport for ages! Heresy for a sporty old. Do I need to add I fear recovery: I’m sure many of you’ll understand me! Yoyo pounds too comfortably resettled (get out of my body, now! LOL!). And spirit and energy falling. Antoine Houssière, the Well-Being Manager of the Aspria Avenue Louise, for the collective course, suggest me to try the Aerotonique. Okay for the Aerotonique in a few days! Meanwhile I go to the spa to experience my first Shiatsu Massage: “A sort of Japanese acupuncture without needles” explains Victor, my therapist.

I confess being very intrigued. Instead of needles, the massage consists of pressure on the meridians to unlock energy. Upstream, there is work on breathing. Take comfortable clothes, the session is held on a kind of tatami covered with towels (picture 1). In the background, oriental music. I start lying on the stomach to finish on the back. Less painful than traditional Thai and Chinese massages, the pressure on certain points can hurt.

As to the body loosens and relaxes. At the end of the massage, I felt a deep calm, both physically and mentally. In a few hours, it is not recommended to move too much, not to sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The next day, some pressure points were still a little sore, it seems that this is normal until two to three days after the massage. But mostly I found flexibility throughout my body. Which is extremely nice and allows you to reconnect with your body.

Back To London in The Eurostar Standard Premier

I tested the Eurostar Standard Premier Class

Yep I’m back to the real things, back to the blog, I’ve missed you! Fashion weeks go by and I’ve been back and forth: no time to post. But let’s start with a nice surprise I had for my last round trip to London. I tested the Eurostar Standard Premier Class. It’s always nice to travel with a heavy camera equipment in a more comfortable class than the Standard one.

Arrived at the station 30 minutes before – I was panic cause I forgot to print my tickets (!), I passed the check in and customs and I directly went to the train: no waiting! The cabin seemed smaller and more airy than in Standard: finally I have space for my legs! Great choice of magazines: Wallpaper, Condé Nast Traveller, Jalouse … which is something to keep busy my hyperactive person  for a good part of the journey. Followed by a snack (attentive service) and already the Channel Tunnel!

The trip lasted 2 hours, the time of a traffic jam during peak hours (LOL!). Arrived in London St Pancras “fresh as a roach” (French way to say super fresh), I go to recharge my Oyster card (which is the London transportation card). I am now in less than 10 minutes on the Piccadilly Line, 4 stops from my hotel, SO great!

The good tip for anyone who travels two and more: Eurostar Plus. Upon presentation of the Eurostar ticket, you can receive 2 tickets for the price of one in eight of the largest museums in London. Interesting: many exhibitions in spring, like the Roy Lichtenstein retrospective at the Tate and the Bowie resptrospective at the Victoria & Albert Museum (“Fa-fa-fa-fashion! Beep-Beep”).
