Tokyo, Japan: Interview of Tomoko Inuzuka

TOKYO CITY GUIDE : SHOPPING / FASHION INSIDER

– I think Japanese girls are all the same now.

Tomoko Inuza has a unique look for sure. Made up of Minnie‘s détails (yep Mickey Mouse’s girlfriend) and the creative outfits of the Indian fashion designer Manish Arora.

Tomoko is certainly his biggest fan. Humoursly, she said: “I want marry him“, a quick look at her Mickey watch. Tomoko and her husband Katsuhiro are the managers of Vermeerist Beams shop in Harajuku.

A kind of boudoir presenting a colorful outfits and accessoiries selection of Japanese and overseas fashion designers, like the great Manish Arora of course. Funny, Tomoko and I were at one of the shows of Manish at Cique d‘Hiver, without knowing each other! Small fashion world!

– I was at Manish first show in the London Fashion Week, four years ago. Very Bright colors: I’ve bought few pieces very difficult to sell in Tokyo.

Tomoko regrets:

– Here young people have no energy and originality to get dressed. Three reasons: the parents buy their clothes. Magazines are bad: same styling, not interesting. Except the Nihon Vogue. And they spend all their money in mobile phones.

The grim reality? We laugh.

– The hype Aoyama is the trendiest area in town to me,

says Tomoko. Where bash shops have incredible architectures. Her choice: Comme des Garçons, Corso Como and Loveless. And serious, Tomoko concludes with:

– Fashion is my life.

Tokyo, Japan: A walk and coffee in Omotesando and Aoyama

TOKYO CITY GUIDE : DISTRICT / OMOTESANDO

Omotesando

has many faces. Walk in small streets near the big avenue and you’ll discover different exciting villages: from super hype atmosphere to pastoral set and hipsters etc …

Don’t expect me tons of addresses, I am rather picky kind. First stop at the avant garde Wut Berlin, this boutique is dedicated to Berliner creation and young designers.

A small charming cafe

Japanese loves miniatures. And this Bambi family’s miniature (picture above) is a quaint detail of the Uzna Omon decoration, a small chaming café pretty confidential where you can eat too (desserts look amazing!).

Happy the ones able to find it without the help of an insider (TY N!) … upstairs in a flat with a small balcony: nice Jingumae roof top view. Plus a great coffees selection and art gallery (pictures above).

Need a NY manicure in Tokyo? Babe, you’re such a diva, go to Dashing Diva (picture above)! Tokyo girls and women are crazy about those kawaii-kawaii nails. Still, yep! Not really my style, but fun to see.

Aoyama, the trendiest district of Tokyo

High range shopping of international fashion designers and luxury brands, in ab fab architectures. Fanciful night walk between shops and art galleries: “at night, everything is more beautiful”.

I felt a bit frustrated when my camera shuts down, no more battery. What a pity! Pictures on the bottom of the board below: a kind of « Star Wars » building, maybe an art gallery?

The other colour pictures: the famous Prada buiding by the architects Herzog and De Meuron. And the black and white picture: an advertising with Queen B.

Don’t forget to check out the crazy architecture of the Tsumori Chisato’s shop and few others…

Japan: Learning Japanese in Tokyo Subway

TOKYO CITY GUIDE : TRANSPORTATION

Japan-Tokyo-Metro-1-Mademoiselle Le K-copyright 2014

Following many of your emails, here’s an updating of my Tokyo posts : check out this useful city guide to help you prepare your trip (in a very Mademoiselle Le K’s way, lol)! Let’s start with the famous chiketatsu (subway): here are some pictures to give you the mood (lol) …

The Chiketatsu is THE safest and cheapest way to move in Tokyo.

Don’t panic, indications and station names are translated in English! It is a world with huge stations where several companies officiate on different metro routes (wide range of prices, lol).

And for the more active, you can even learn Japanese … on the wharf, decrypting the ideograms (and their phonetic) sticked on graphic cars (photo below).

I revised verbs before the train leaves.

Time is precious. Once in the train, I will be sleeply between stations like every Tokyo people. Sat, stand-up, young and old, women, children, salary men or hypesters: everybody falls sleeping!

Lulled by the sweet female voice that dis-tinc-ly announces the next station, I could improve my pronunciation, “Shin-ju-ku, Shin-ju-ku“, “Taka-dano-baba” (I love it!). Not to mention in the endless corridors,  I practised the classics: “leftO“, “rightO!”! Tokyo forever …
