Departure to Thailand: Sawadee Ka Bangkok!

Departure to Thailand: Sawadee Ka Bangkok!

Hi Bangkok! Finally I sat in the plane, ready for 11 hours of flight!  I like long flight.

Direction Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Airport, the starting point to go to the discovery of a different and less touristy side of Thailand, with the nature reserves and ecotourism.

If during my last visit to Bangkok, I was very urban, focused on shopping and massages, this trip is more about nature! Wow Mademoiselle Le K globetrotter… Well, I managed to lighten my suitcase. No high heels! Yes, lol!

I am invited with a few journalists by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. And I am very excited about the route that will take us from Bangkok to Phuket, along the Gulf of Thailand. The opposite side of the famous Andaman Sea’s islands and beautiful beaches. We will cross the provinces of Samut Songkhram, Chumphon and Surat Thani.

And if like me, only these names make you dream: follow me in the coming days on this blog and Twitter. You can also find my photos in the Facebook of the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Facebook of the Royal Thai Embassy in Belgium.

Brussels: Discover The Northern Thailand Cuisine @ Les Larmes du Tigre

Recently I was invited to a press lunch at the Brussels famous restaurant, Les Larmes du Tigre, in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand. As usual: after I got lost (yep, I went to another restaurant, could you believe this!), I managed to arrive on time! After the  warm welcome of Mark Beukers, the owner and his team : ouch, I perceive that I forgot my camera (!). Fortunately, a journalist friend lent me her phone (thank you R!) and I could make these few snapshots. I’m nicely surprised by the result! I’ve been a few times in Thailand, never in the North: from November 15 to January 26, Les Larmes du Tigre, the Office of Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways have joined forces to highlight the cuisine of Northern Thailand. I discover this delicious cooking, combining pleasure of the eyes and the palate and so nicely presented and tasty. Honestly I’m light years of this boring endless trend of non stop fooding everywhere! Here are some pictures of one of the dishes on this six services menu. Photo 2: Kaeng Kung Hooe, prawns with curry from the north and mixed vegetables. Photo 3: assorted raw vegetables with an excellent eggplant caviar. Photo 4: Ab Pla, bass fillet grilled in a banana leaf with Thai herbs. Congratulations to Chef Apple! And while you enjoy your meal, you can admire portraits of the Thai photographer, Cholavit.

Pañpuri: Hand Cream Boxes

Sawaidee Kha! Few years ago, I’ve discovered  Pañpuri in Gaysorn , a luxury mall in Bangkok. This high end brand from Bangkok elaborates organic skin care and body treatment, presented in beautiful packaging. I really do enjoy associating beauty creams with my travels. The chic useful Pañpuri hand cream boxes (picture above), include 3 tubes of cream of 25 ml. There are three different boxes: Rose Absolute Hand Cashmire Cream (with Rose Absolute, Rose Water, Olive, Trehalose), Solitude Luminous Hand & Nail Cream (Marula Oil, Star Fruit, Tamarind) and Come Clean Anti-oxydant Reparative  Hand and Nail Cream (Jasmine, Pomegrenate, Portulaca, Wild Thai Honey). I’ve tested the last one : its light texture, between balm and cream melts  instantly on the skin, gently nourrishing and smoothing it, with a Jasmine perfume.

Sold 27 Euros, those boxes are some lovely gift ideas for the festive season. Yes, already the festive season! All the more so it is for a good cause! Pañpuri participes to international aid fot Thailand and have organized the aid effort, «Helping Hands For Thailand» to help the victims of the floods in Thailand. For any purchase of product including a hand cream @ www.panpuri.fr : in November (2011), 10% of the total amount of the purchase will be donated to the Thai Red Cross. Kop khun kha!
