Leonor Greyl: Excellent Cares For Very Dry Hair

I’ve seriously followed my routine

with four excellent natural hair care products of Leonor Greyl for a month and a half. These products are sodium laureth sulfate free, paraben free, silicone free, eco-friendly and not tested on animals. Without becoming completely organic, the more I try hair or skin products, the more I am interested in their composition and trying to decipher ingredient lists on the back of packaging. I’ve still had a long way: how to identify, know and understand the interactions between different components without taking an advanced course in chemistry? Anyway, I’ve known and used for years Huile de Palme (the Palm Oil) and I recently wanted to discover others products of Leonor Greyl.

Let’s Start with Shampoing Crème Moelle de Bambou (Cream Shampoo Bamboo Marrow) for long and dry hair… and very dry, plus frizzy or relaxed hair. I finally found a shampoo I enjoy to apply (texture, foam and smell) which untangles my hair making them soft. Remember: whatever your hair type, always choice a shampoo with sodium laureth sulfate free (harmful) and silicone-free, especially if you have a sensitive scalp and lengths that break. A nourishing mask is required after the last rinse of shampoo, with cold water! The Masque à l’Orchidée (the Orchid Mask), softener for frizzy hair, is a pure wonder. I love its perfume! Its whipped creamy texture deeply nourishes, hydrates and softens my hair. Before applying the mask strand by strand, I wrung my hair. Once the mask is applied, I keep it one hour wrapped in a cling film and a hot towel (not really sexy, I know, lol). Then I rinse. My hair is relaxed and so soft that I barely comb (first tips, then roots) to tie in a bun. Naturally they dry and smooth. I never use iron or blow dry at home.

Every morning, I apply a blend of Huile de Palme (the Palm Oil) and Lait Luminescence Bi-phase (the Milk Luminescence Bi-Phase), my favorite product! This milk detangles, protects and scents my hair a discreet veil of coconut. Why mixing it with the Palm Oil? Because dry frizzy or relaxed hair needs lots of hydration (the milk or water-based formulation) and being fed (the oil). As not to burden or grease my hair, I put little. This cocktail makes my hair much less brittle!  Maybe I’ve missed a bit a creamy texture in addition, to treat specifically my very dry hair type. Unfortunately when you have lots of hair, Lait Luminescence Bi-phase and Masque à l’Orchidée  (respectively 150 ml and 200 ml) end quickly! Ditto for the great Huile de Palme (95 ml) that I apply the day before shampooing once a week. Thanks to Leonor Greyl for having been one of the French first brands to offer natural products tailored to the ethnic hair.

Bobbi Brown: How to make a perfect complexion

If I tell you I’m a dummy in make-up,

a very lazy girlsh hates bad skins hidden tacky make-up! I’ve always been (a bit) suspicious about make-up (lol)! That why I bravely decided  to have an appointement @ the Bobbi Brown studio for testing a great “naturel” complexion.

I meet Bas Hokke (last picture), stainless steel blue eyes and National Marke-up Artist Benelux. Before taking care of my complexion, he explains me : “Here we look first at the great parts of a face to show off them. We don’t focuss to the less nice parts and we don’t want to hide or change them. We provide individual free Make-up Lessons ( by R.V.), to learn women how to make-up and to help them to choice the right colors and products. Each lesson is dedicated to a specific purpose: complexion, lips, eyes“.

So let’s start the “the perfect natural complexion”! Each step is illustrated by pictures of the products Bas used for my skin. Step 1 : absolut must do, the cleansing. These gentle products can be used by sensitive skins. Ingredients are natural, paraben free and hypollergenic.I really like the light nourrishing texture of the Hydrating Eye Cream (3).

Step 2 : First we choice for the corrector and concelear, the colors that perfectly matches with my skin tone. In my case, I need two different colours : one a little bit lighter than my skin for the corrector (1). And one a little bit darker than the corrector for the concelear (2). Bas recommends me to use brushes to apply less quantity of products. The texture penetrates better and more uniformly.

Step 3 : To find the right foundation colour, Bas applies two shades of the Touch Up Stick. On s’appercoit que la nuance la plus claire grise le teint. On n’oublie pas d’appliquer une protection solaire après la crème hydratante et avant le maquillage.

Step 4 : apply a very few amount of powder, Bobbi Brown thinks that a nice looking healthy skin shines a little bit. And I also think when my skin is too mate, it misses brightness.

You can add a step 5 : for the blush. But me I’m not found of. Bas choose for me a colour that reminds the pink of my lips. And we’ve done with the natural perfect complexion steps : I’m supposed to do it @ home in 20 minutes.

Honestely I haven’t tried yet! But I can tell you the result is WOW! You discover yourself natural, with a little twist that makes the difference! unfortunately I don’t have nay picture : the complexion is better with a natural light. Thanks Bas!

Follow-me tomorrow, for the lips and eyes Bobbi Brown Make-up Lessons!

Mavala: A Fantastic Homemade Manucure

It’s been a while I wanted to post about manicure!

First I’ve been a fan of the Mavala mini nail polish for ages. I have so many like a colorful collection (lol!), they are so useful when travelling . This time I forgot colouring and tried a homemade manucure (manucure maison) with the Mavala products. I’ve followed step by step the ritual, using a minimum of products and accessories! Okay it won’t ever be as great as in a nail bar (although… ), but the result is ab fab! So here for the dummies (like me) : a simplified version of the Malava manucure.

1. The hands are clean and nails without any nail polish (Nail Polish Remover Pads) to shape them with an emery board and “lightly stroke form the edges of the nail toward the centre, holding the board under the edge of the nail and at a slight angle“.

2. I apply Cuticule Remover around the nail contour. I wait a bit and “roll back”  (yes!) cuticules with a stick wrapped in cotton wool. Don’t cut the cuticules! Then I wash my hands and brush my nails.

3. Must do : I apply the Protective Base coat Mavala 002: to “protect the nails from absorbing pigment contained in nail polish and lengthen the life of your manicure“.

4. The great pleasure : the choice of the nail polish! For one month, I’ve been addicted to Khaki Vintage (166). It’s really my trend colour: so chic! And they are all those mini red nail polish… The tip, I apply two thin coat, starting in the center of nail.

5. I brush a coat of Colorfix to protect the nail polish and “to give an incomparable brilliance“! And last but not least, when everything is absolutely dry, I moisterise my super dry hands with Mavala-Plus cream. And I’m ready to write some amazing beauty posts on my computer keyboard!
