Back To London in The Eurostar Standard Premier

I tested the Eurostar Standard Premier Class

Yep I’m back to the real things, back to the blog, I’ve missed you! Fashion weeks go by and I’ve been back and forth: no time to post. But let’s start with a nice surprise I had for my last round trip to London. I tested the Eurostar Standard Premier Class. It’s always nice to travel with a heavy camera equipment in a more comfortable class than the Standard one.

Arrived at the station 30 minutes before – I was panic cause I forgot to print my tickets (!), I passed the check in and customs and I directly went to the train: no waiting! The cabin seemed smaller and more airy than in Standard: finally I have space for my legs! Great choice of magazines: Wallpaper, Condé Nast Traveller, Jalouse … which is something to keep busy my hyperactive person for a good part of the journey. Followed by a snack (attentive service) and already the Channel Tunnel!

The trip lasted 2 hours, the time of a traffic jam during peak hours (LOL!). Arrived in London St Pancras “fresh as a roach” (French way to say super fresh), I go to recharge my Oyster card (which is the London transportation card). I am now in less than 10 minutes on the Piccadilly Line, 4 stops from my hotel, SO great!

The good tip for anyone who travels two and more: Eurostar Plus. Upon presentation of the Eurostar ticket, you can receive 2 tickets for the price of one in eight of the largest museums in London. Interesting: many exhibitions in spring, like the Roy Lichtenstein retrospective at the Tate and the Bowie resptrospective at the Victoria & Albert Museum (“Fa-fa-fa-fashion! Beep-Beep”).

Retour à Londres en Eurostar Standard Premier

J’ai testé la classe Eurostar Standard Premier.

Ouiii enfin de retour sur le blog, vous m’avez manqué! Les fashion weeks s’enchaînent et j’enchaîne les A/R : plus le temps pour poster. Autant commencer par une bonne surprise : lors de mon dernier A/R express sur Londres, j’ai testé la classe Eurostar Standard Premier. Toujours agréable de voyager dans une classe plus confortable que la Standard, lorsque l’on a du matériel photo lourd.

Arrivée à la gare 30 mn avant, en panic mode – j’ai oublié d’imprimer mes billets (… ), je passe le contrôle et j’embarque direct dans le train : zéro attente! La cabine m’a semblé plus petite et plus aérée que celle en Standard : enfin de l’espace pour mes jambes! Choix de magazines pointu : Wallpaper, Condé Nast Traveller, Jalouse… de quoi occuper mon hyper active petite personne durant une bonne partie du trajet. Suivi d’une collation (service attentionné) et déjà le tunnel sous la manche!

Le trajet a duré 2h, le temps d’un embouteillage aux heures de pointe (lol!). Arrivée à Londres Saint Pancras fraîche comme un gardon, je file recharger mon Oyster card (qui permet d’utiliser les transports en commun à prix avantageux). Me voilà en moins de 10 mn sur la Picadilly Line, à 4 stations de mon hôtel, le rêve!

“Ze” bon plan pour tous ceux qui voyagent à deux et plus : Eurostar Plus, sur présentation de son billet Eurostar, on peut bénéficier de deux entrées pour le prix d’une dans 8 des plus grands musées londoniens. Intéressant vu toutes les grosses expos du printemps, à commencer par les rétrospectives de Roy Lichtenstein à la Tate et de Bowie au Victoria & Albert Museum (“Fa-fa-fa-fashion! Beep-beep!”).

Pictures 1, 9 & 10: the new tube, so easy to use, with sits first for bonzes, children, pregnant women and eldery persons ! Pictures 2 & 3: old school phone box, a huge moment of solitude (how can I use it without a fluent Thai? What about the area codes?)! Picture 4 & 5: fronts like the Hong Kong mansions of the Wong Kar Wai’s first movies. Pictures 6 & 7: funny architecture with a view to… a bit of Osaka, with the three levels tube, kind of Blade Runner’s movie. Picture 8: « Sexy Folie » stars of teenagers, the cover boyz white complexion and enticing poses.
